As a
company,
Globe is
very
proactive in
reaching
out to
partner with organizations and pursue causes that will aid in “Creating a Globe of Good.” As one
of the top mobile solutions providers in the country, the company reaches out to local
communities impacted by its business operations and put development programs in place to help
improve their quality of life and provide livelihood opportunities. To establish a good
foundation, Globe aims to provide quality education that enables students to have talents and
skills that will sustain them for their future endeavors. Through its five-year expanded, the
company intends to transform selected public schools into centers of excellence in Information
and Communication Technology and innovative teaching methods. The program is expected to
benefit all 218 school divisions of the Department of Education (DepEd) nationwide by 2020.
GFS started four years ago and is now operating in 80 public schools around the country,
cumulatively influencing 5,788 teachers and benefitting 151,526 students. The GFS program
provides schools with free internet connectivity as well as ICT tools like tablets, projectors,
virtual reality (VR) goggles, casting dongles, Home Prepaid WiFi modems, and mobile phones.
Partner schools also receive an intensive teacher training program on 21st-century learning
approach, ICT integration in classrooms as well as workshop modules on responsible digital
citizenship. Each of the schools, likewise, serves as a teacher training hub in the DepEd division
they belong to. To assess its success upon its implementation, a study released by Taylor Nelson
Sofres in 2015 showed the GFS program helped improve digital skills among teachers and
students, specifically on using mobile technology and computer software. The study also showed
that the GFS program enabled 21st-century learning outcomes that involve creativity,
communication, collaboration, and critical thinking; increased student engagement in classroom
activities; as well as helped enhance school culture through readiness in ICT integration.
“Nation-building starts in the classroom so we want to make sure that we equip our
future leaders with 21st century skills and knowledge. Initiatives like GFS that introduce new
ways of educating our youth are very important in helping the country keep pace with the rest of
the world. We are looking forward to having more public schools adopt technology through
internet connectivity and mobile tech solutions that GFS provides,” said Tonisito M.C. Umali,
Esq., Undersecretary for Legislative Affairs, External Partnerships, and Project Management
Service.
Globe is one with the country and its

partners in creating a Globe of Good, as the
ultimate goal is to build a better nation and
improve the quality of life of the Filipino people.
Through its corporate social responsibility arm
BridgeCom, Globe also launched back in 2008
the “Sagot Ka Ni Kap!” program, which enabled
residents to be more engaged and vigilant in maintaining the peace and order situation of their
community. Globe provided barangays with communication equipment such as mobile phones
with Globe or TM SIM and hand-held radios; and law enforcement tools such as uniform shirts,
raincoats, boots, heavy-duty flashlights, tear gas, and handcuffs for barangay tanods and local
community police auxiliary units. It was envisioned that opening the lines of communication
would foster leadership and good governance, which would then result in peaceful and orderly
communities. Through the same program, Globe provided tarpaulin signage containing details of
the dedicated barangay-based mobile hotline, through which community members can file
incident reports.
Fast forward to this year, the Sagot Ka ni Kap! program has already evolved into a municipal-
wide program that aims to equip and transform local governments to become risk resilient and
capable of managing disasters, natural or man-made. Since its inception, the SKK has been
implemented in more than 400 barangays nationwide. Globe is currently working with 40
municipalities situated in high-risk and hazardous areas. Though admittedly limited as a total
intervention for eradicating criminal elements, the program is successful in espousing
constructive dialogue and providing a solid foundation for future cooperation between Globe and
the communities it works with.

Megaworld Corporation
Megaworld Foundation upholds the company’s

principles of corporate social responsibility (CSR) through
such noble undertakings as poverty alleviation, people
empowerment, and environmental conservation. The
foundation supports 12 out of 17 United Nations
Sustainable Development Goals. Over the past decade, it
has awarded 5,800 educational grants, leading to 600
scholars graduating from degree programmes — nearly half with honours. In addition to the
scholarship programme, Megaworld supports initiatives that benefit regional communities, and
has forged over 270 partnerships in 15 regions. Megaworld Foundation, the socio-civic arm of
Megaworld, went beyond its usual granting of scholarships and partnered with Holy Spirit Aeta
Missions (HSAM) to reach out to the impoverished community. The Foundation got to know the
community more on its first feeding activity in 2017. By personally meeting the students and
their parents, the Foundation built a bond with them resulting to more fruitful outreach
initiatives. The dormitory’s first full school year serving as a home to the students begun in June
2018. In time for the start of classes, the Foundation also transported 80 armchairs equipping two
classrooms. Later that year, Megaworld employees travelled for three hours to conduct learning
activities, inspire students through vision boards, and serve 600 sumptuous meals during the
“One with the Aetas” outreach activity. Books, learning
materials, school supplies, hygiene kits, and utensils were
also given to further equip the school dormitory.
Megaworld Foundation’s school dormitory surpassed its initial target and now shelters 78
students. They were spared them from their barefoot travel as they enjoyed 48,400 meals through
the supplemental feeding. During the first half of the school year, 80% of the beneficiaries had
consistent school attendance and 97% of them were already expected to finish their grade levels.
Thus, Megaworld Foundation also organized its second run of "Eskwela ng Bayan: A
Mega Classroom on Wheels" which aims to provide basic learning classes to poverty-stricken
communities. In partnership with Bukas Palad Foundation, the initiative was conducted upon the
start of the 6-month feeding program for undernourished children in Tramo, Pasay. Furthermore,
in bullet-list form, here are additional CSR accomplishments of Megaworld Foundation since the
beginning of 2018:

 Engagement of Megaworld’s Executive Committee and 45 company heads in
charitable activities for “Leadership with a Heart”
 Attendance and completion rates breakthrough of Aeta students residing in the
Foundation’s school dormitory and graduation of six students from grade school
 Raising awareness of Megaworld’s workforce about its advocacies supporting
United Nation’s Sustainable Developmental Goals
