Communication play an important role in understanding.

We convey our
thoughts thru communication because actions are not enough to express our
thoughts. If a man is hungry and makes a gesture of putting a hand on his
tummy, another person may perceive that the man is having a tummy ache
instead of hunger. The message that actions bring may just be capable of
different interpretations.

Communication may either be oral or written. In oral communication, a


person can convey not only just his message, but also his feelings thru the
use of expressions. A person may use different facial expression, voice tones
and hand gestures. Written communication on the other hand is different. A
person reading words will not have the exact message that the writer is
trying to convey unless the writer uses the correct sentence structure. This
is where structural grammar comes into play. A writer can change the tone
of the sentence by using different punctuations, different vocabulary and
placement of the words. It therefore leads to an effective communication
which makes this topic interesting.

I cannot emphasize enough how important is the study of structural


grammar. However, based on my personal observation, it is slowly being
given less emphasis in the order of things that one has to learn. Since the
advent of texting and at the time when the characters are limited to 160
letters, people have been flexible enough to rely messages which gives the
reader a wide array of interpretation. At present on the other hand,
expression is being replaced by emojis. Despite being creative and fun, I
cannot stress enough the importance of structural grammar in a professional
setup which we are all leading to.
