3.1. Power source

3)Operation place
Do not store the unit at places like shown below for longer life.
・Poisonous gas.
・Hot steams.
・Water drop.
・Sand or dusty.
・Oily steams.
・Shock or vibration.
・Voltage changes violently.
・Voltage severely drops at overloaded.
・Direct sun ray.

① Face guard
It prevent patient‟s face or head go into the range of X-ray exposure field.

Reference; Insert face guard in any time except Magnification radiography.

② Beam limiting mask


It should be exchanged according to film size and radiography type.

Caution; Beam limiting masks are preferred to be used its own options.

When the mask is not set, inserted inappropriately or other units‟ one is used,

③ Exposure field indicating lamp switch


It indicates breast‟s field (range) to be exposed.

Reference; The lamp keeps turned on for 30 sec and automatically turned on during exposure.

④ Compression paddle fixing metal


Turn left to fix and right to release the compression paddle.

Fix Release

When compression paddle is set, insert paddle properly up to the end and make

Paddle should be exchanged according to film size and radiography type.

⑥ Manual compression knob


This knob is used for manual compression on / off.

When blackout or fatal trouble on the unit, release compression paddle with this

⑦ Hand grip
This is used for patient relax during exposure. Let patient hold this grip to be stable.

⑧ Device setting connector


This is setting connector of bucky device and magnification device.

⑨ Device table
Bucky device and magnification device is placed in this unit.

⑩ AEC field adjustment knob


AEC exposure field can be adjusted by moving the knob.

In case of that the breast is out of AEC detector's field, un-proper film is made.
Reference; AEC field should be placed at nearest part of patient's chest when spot radiography.
If AEC field is focused out of breast, overloaded exposure is made.

⑪ Compression force adjusting knob


Compression force can be selected(3kg ~ max. 20kg, 1 kg step up / down)
The value of compression force is shown on SETTING window in stand.

Basically size is 18×24 cm(optionally 24×30 cm can be installed.)

In case of operation by AEC detector movement knob


X-ray detector field under the radiography table or auto film-changer, the

mask, cassette device or filter is not set in, or device
combination is wrong.
When INHIBIT lamp is on, press HELP
(21) and checking number C○○-○○
at an exposure condition indicating

Reference; Then eliminate INHIBIT as shown in
section 6.1.
And checking number might be duplicated
from time to time, therefore press HELP
button and follow instruction above.

This lamp turns on and alarm when X-ray is intercepted at


check mAs value.

⑪ CHECK lamp X-ray can not be made during check lamp

5. Operation Instruction

5.1. Pre-inspection

Follow the instruction for operating the unit in safe.

1)Visible check with eyes.


(1)Whether there‟s any obstacle in the range of unit‟s action.
(2)Whether water drop or chemical is stuck on the unit.
(3)Whether there‟s nail or any metal stuff on the radiography table.
(4)Whether any strangeness is on cables.

2)Confirmation movement sound and position.


(1)The sound when power is on. :Whether no strange sound on the unit.

As soon as power breaker is on, compression paddle unit starts to move down first
then down.
Reference; Accordingly, “__” appears at kV indicating window after approximately 10
seconds.
The system is ready to be operated by pressing “ON” switch.

(2)C-arm up / down movement :1.Whether strange sound is audible.


2.Whether unit‟s movement sound gets louder.
3.Whether C-arm stops at limited position.

(3)C-arm rotation movement :1.Whether strange sound is audible.


2.Whether unit‟s movement sound gets louder.
3.Whether C-arm stops at limited angle.

(4)Compression paddle :1.Whether strange sound is audible.

5.2. How to set accessories

1)Fix and release of bucky device

(1)Adjust bucky device fit to guide rail on device table.


(2)Smoothly push it in up to the end and securely fastened.
(3)Insert cassette into bucky device.

Reference; Cassette can be inserted into from both side of bucky device.

(4)When cassette to be released, push lever to inside direction of the unit then pull it out.
(5)To pull out bucky device, push fix and release lever under the device table and then pull out
bucky device as some as cassette releasing.

(1)When magnification device is to be set in, keep in mind to replace face guard and compression
paddle first.
(2)Adjust magnification device fit to guide rail on device table

3)How to fix and release compression paddle


Exchange proper compression paddle according to film size and radiography style.

・Compression paddle 18×24 cm :Compression radiography use.


・Mag. Compression paddle 18×24 cm :Magnification use
・Spot compression paddle :Compression spot radiography use.
・Mag. Spot compression paddle :Magnification spot radiography use.

How to exchange compression paddle

4)How to fix and release face guard.

(1)Adjust beam limiting mask fit to guard rail.


(2)Then push it in up to the end.

Beam limiting mask is not self-locking type, therefore it should be inserted till the

5.3. Basic operation.

1)Power on
(1)Turn circuit breaker ON.

At status of circuit breaker is ON(bar lamp on panel flashes). When the unit is left

at this status, beep sound alarms at every 30 seconds.

(2)Press panel ON switch “ I “

2)Set device table ( bucky device, magnification device )


3)Set compression paddle.
4)Set face guard ( unnecessary for magnification device is set )
5)Set beam limiting mask.
6)Adjust height of radiography table according to the position of patient‟s breast.
7)Specify C-arm‟s angle.

Set specified angle for C-arm to be stopped with pressing angle setting switch

(SPECIFIED ANGLE)on stand panel.

8) Insert cassette with unexposed film inside of it.


9)Check or set the value of compression force at stand panel.
10)Make a compression on breast. Let patient position properly.
(Both automatic and manual compression should properly made)
11)Check if breast is in right position(inside of light)or not with beam limiting lamp
12)Check or set the position of beam light and its size at AEC mode exposure.
13)Set radiographic conditions at X-ray control console panel.
14)Make an exposure.
15)Auto release compression paddle from patient‟s breast

When an exposure is completed, compression paddle is released automatically,

therefore patient‟s face should be out of paddle‟s way not to be bumped to.

16)Press “ISO” button at stand panel, when radiography direction is to be exchanged, then push
C-arm‟s rotation switch.

At the status that compression action on patient‟s breast is already made(more


Reference; than 3 kgf of compression force), rotation and up / down movement of C-arm is
automatically inter-locked for safety reason.

17)Repeat(8)~(15).

5.4. Manual radiography

1)Select “MANUAL” at X-ray control console panel.


2)Set kV with a tube head voltage setting switch.
3)Set mAs with a mAs setting switch.
4)To make exposure, press first “READY” switch (Preparation) then “READY” lamp will light up and
press “X-RAY” switch (Exposure)simultaneously with “READY” switch remained pressed.
5)Buzzer beeps during an exposure is made and “X-RAY” lamp is lit up.
6)Leave fingers from two switches after exposure made.

If READY and X-RAY switched are not pressed at same time, and “CHECK” lamp

lights on. Exposure is failed.

5.5. SEMI AEC radiography.

1)The first check AEC detector‟s position.


2)Select “SEMI” with AEC switch at X-ray control console panel.
3)Check or set FILM SPEED according to film being used.
4)Set kV with kV setting switch.
5)When it revises in case mAs value, set the value with DENSITY switch.
6)To make exposure, press first “READY” switch (Preparation) then “READY” lamp will light up and
press “X-RAY” switch (Exposure)simultaneously with “READY” switch remained pressed.
7)Buzzer beeps during an exposure is made and “X-RAY” lamp is lit up.
8)Leave fingers from two switches after exposure made.

1.If READY and X-RAY switched are not pressed at same time,
Reference; and “CHECK” lamp lights on. Exposure is failed
2.Even though more than mAs value of AEC back up, “CHECK” lamp is lit on.

5.6. Full AEC radiography

1)The first check AEC detector‟s position.


2)Select “FULL” with AEC switch at X-ray control console panel.
3)Check or set FILM SPEED according to film being used.
4)When it revises in case mAs value, set the value with DENSITY switch.
5)To make exposure, press first “READY” switch (Preparation) then “READY” lamp will light up
and press “X-RAY” switch (Exposure)simultaneously with “READY” switch remained pressed.
6)Buzzer beeps during an exposure is made and “X-RAY” lamp is lit up.
7)Leave fingers from two switches after exposure made.

1.If READY and X-RAY switched are not pressed at same time,
Reference; and “BACKUP” lamp lights on. Exposure is failed
2.Even though more than mAs value of AEC back up, “CHECK” lamp is lit on.

5.7. Emergency stop switch

When the unit is to be stopped in urgent, press this switch.

When emergency stop by any trouble, call service engineer to check and turn on

the power after engineer‟s inspection.

5.8. After-inspection.
After operation is finished, arrange inspection according to followings.

1)Visible check with eyes.


(1)Whether there‟s any obstacle in the range of unit‟s action.
(2)Whether any strangeness is on cables.

(1)C-arm up / down movement :1.Whether strange sound is audible.

6. Messages and corrective actions

6.1. Error & Check messages


This unit has self-diagnostic function.
Check when INHIBIT lamp is on.

7. Maintenance

Operator should take an inspection for longer unit‟s life.

7.1. Daily check point.


Check items in “5.1 Pre-inspection” and “5.8 After-inspection” at chapter 5.

7.2. Check point after use in short time.


Check items in “5.1 Pre-inspection” at chapter 5.
And worm up X-ray tube head.
Make three exposures at every 30 seconds at large focus, 25 kV and 10 mAs.
Clean the unit.
Clean the body with wet cloth by water or domestic detergent.

Caution; 1.Do not use an abrasive, organic detergent or chlorine compound.


2.Do not spray on the unit.
