Reduction of Air Pollution Technologies
Reduction of Air Pollution Technologies
Please fill this in; #1 is based upon PowerPoint from Monday in class, #2 you will do outside research and #3 can be completed by watching the
assigned AP Classroom video. You will upload after watching the 2 nd assigned AP Classroom video.
1. What is the Clean Air Act (CAA) and how has it helped to reduce air pollution in the United States? What has it been most
successful in? Problem areas still? (2 points)
The Clean Air Act is a federal law that regulates air emissions from stationary and mobile sources. It has established regulatory
programs with specific air quality requirements to control air pollution. It has reduced the levels of sulfur and other pollutants that
can hurt the the environment. The problem with this act is that government officials have to make sure they enforce the law to make
sure the act work.
2. How have fuels changed that have helped to reduce air pollution? Describe fuel efficiency standards (CAFE) and how this
has improved air pollution in the United States. (3 points)
Lead has been eliminated and sulfur levels are more than 90% lower than they were before the Clean Air Act. (CAFE) Corporate
average fuel economy is standards in the U.S which improve the average fuel economy of cars and light trucks. It decreased the
use of fuel which reduce pollution created by making gasoline and what it released.
3. Technology (15 points) Explanation of how it works What is it best suited for in What are the drawbacks of
terms of air pollution? this technology?
