QUICK OVERVIEW
The Channel Strip Library will be installed in Logics “Channel Strip Settings” and supports Waves, Native
Instruments, iZotope, Softube, Slate Digital and SSL plugins. It also works great with the stock Logic Pro X
plugins if you don't have any 3rd party plugins. Apple has recently introduced some nice new plugins with
version 10.4, like the Pultec, Neve and API EQ emulations.
You get started by selecting “Create a new project from a template…” and choosing MixTemple [Free] in the list.
This will open a template that has all the FX routings and a list of typical tracks already in place.
What you select of course depends on the brands of plugins you have installed on your system. If in doubt you
can always use everything that’s listed under “Logic Pro X” to use the stock plugins - don’t underestimate
these!
If you want to dive deeper into mixing and you happen to not own my book YOUR MIX SUCKS yet, the book
can give you more in-depth learnings about the many techniques used in this product. You can buy the eBook
on my website.
GETTING STARTED
1. Install the Logic Pro X Content (Channel Strip Library & Template)
c) Click “OK” in case a warning pops up and go to your System Preferences -> Security & Privacy
d) Click on “Open Anyway” and then confirm “Open”
e) The Installer will guide you through the next steps.
d) Select a Channel Strip Preset for each track from the “Channel Strip Settings”
e) All the plugin-chains like to see a signal level of roughly around -18dBFS on the input, so you should tweak
the signal with a gainer in the first slot. This will ensure that your mix sessions gain structure is always in the
right ballpark.
d) The FX bus structure is already in place, when you add a Send FX, you can pick an effect by the application
name, e.g.
If you like, you can make yourself familiar with the routing structure of the template and customise it for your
needs. If you need more tracks for your session, just use “command + D” to duplicate a track within it’s track
stack.
Also you might want to save your own channel strips. When you do that, make sure to save them outside of
the MixTemple Free folders, as any update of Mix Temple FREE will overwrite this folder.
You can also build your own production template from the template by adding, for example, your favourite
virtual instruments. That way you can access all the effects and routing features during production and
arrangement. We are currently experimenting with more options that we will add in an update, and would
appreciate if you told us what’d be helpful for your workflow.
We are working on some in-depth tutorials that will be released through our social media channels. I will of
course also send you links to these videos via e-mail so please make sure to add my e-mail address
