Read the following text carefully and do the activities.
Nowadays, music is one of the most favourite teenagers’ pastimes. Yet adults keep complaining that the

youths waste most of their time listening to music and ignore their studies. I decided to find out whether it
was true.

I questioned eighty secondary school teenagers aged between 15 and 19 so as to know what kind of
music was the most popular with them and why it was so. When I asked them if they liked listening to
music, all of the teenagers said they liked it. But my main interest in fact was what they listened to music

for.

60 of them said they listened to music to relax. Twelve told me that they did so to get rid of the stress of
school work. Only eight informants said they listened to music to avoid talking to people. Then I questioned
m
them what their favourite music was. Fifty of them told me that they enjoyed Rai music while eighteen said
they liked the local music. Only twelve of them stated that they love listening to Pop music.

Finally, I found out that most teenagers spend much time in listening to music or doing something else
rather than doing homework. They tend to give little importance to their studies. The showed also that Rai
music is their favourite type of music.
