How can you describe your discovery of your sexuality, your sense
of being male or female?
Actually upon growing up my father dressed me up like a boyish style, pants
and shirts I didn’t even remember wearing skirts. My hair was also cut the
same as boys’ hair it was “seven-seven”, as I remember. I still remember the
time when my cousins’ classmate thought that I was a boy because of the way
I looked. Those things doesn’t conspire how I feel, even if I dressed and my
hair was in that looked deep inside I considered myself as straight, girl or
whatever to call. I love being a girl especially the things that made me a
female, dressing up, make ups and everything that girls love to do.
1. How does your being a female or male influence your family’s and
peers expectations from you?
Being a female means a big role in the family, they expected me “to be like
that and those”. These are some of the personality expectations of me being
a female in the family: Gentle in every way or the Maria Clara, the matured
thinker and the chores doer. As a female for me is somewhat hard since they
rely house hold task. My family expected me to achieve higher or to soar high
since I am a female which for them if you’re a female “you’re the example or
the role model”. Being raised as a female was very strict since they expected
me to follow their values and principles in life. They had a lot of expectations
for me which I am afraid to fail those.
