I’d like to share a simple and powerful tool to help spread the Gospel on your
campus. The idea is that you choose one of the four gospels and then do a simple
Bible study with seven of the most evangelistic stories from that gospel. These
stories have been selected because they are easy to understand and are a great
starting place for people who have never studied the Bible.

How to Start a “Seven Stories of Hope” Bible Study

1. Live on mission in your sphere of influence.
As you invest in people and share the Gospel, determine if you have a green light, yellow light, or
red light.

• Green Light: They have already or just decided to repent and believe in Jesus. Ask to meet up
to study the Bible. Start studying the seven stories of hope from one of the gospels. Ask the
new believer to invite their friends. Ask members to read that gospel on their own as well.
• Yellow Light: They are interested in Jesus, but not ready to believe yet. Pick a gospel and
study the seven stories of hope of that gospel. Ask members to read that gospel on their own
as well.
• Red Light: They are not interested. Continue to love them and pray for them, but don’t
pressure them.

2. Pick a strategic time and place to meet.

Meet in a comfortable place and at a good time for them. Sacrifice your own comfort to get on
their turf. Your friend’s home or apartment is the most ideal place because they will more likely
invite their friends, but a neutral place on campus is good too!

3. Remind people about the meeting.

Continue to remind people about every meeting! Also, regularly remind people to invite friends!

4. Be prepared for each meeting.

Make sure everyone has a Bible app with the same translation or bring Bibles. Choose which
passage you will study ahead of time.

5. Meet!
Here is a simple method of Bible study to use.

1. Review the last week.

2. Read the passage out loud.
3. Re-read it silently.
4. Reflect with simple questions. (Here are some questions I have used. 1. What can we discover
from this passage? Is there a truth about God or Jesus, an example to follow or avoid, or a
command to obey? 2. What are some ways this passage can apply to our lives?)
5. Respond with personal applications. (Have everyone make an “I will ” statement.)
6. Request. Ask for prayer requests and then pray.
