Why it Happens?

Objective:

Each student will research online and put together a PowerPoint

on a celebrity that died because of substance abuse.

Organization:

1. Research a celebrity online that died from substance abuse (drugs)

Substance can be OTC, prescription, alcohol, tobacco

or any illegal drug.

2. The student will need to take notes to put together a PowerPoint

3. The information the student researches includes: person's name and


pictures, history/background, facts and examples about the
drug,

treatments, effects, benefits/symptoms, add charts/graphs, the future of the drug.

Research Development:

1. The students will have two days in the media center to complete the research.

2. The student will collect data and place the information into an informative PowerPoint.

3. 8 Slides Minimum (Title Page and Reference Page included)

4. Information should include the following requirements: (High quality pieces of data)
  a. Background and picture(s) of the celebrity: age/DOB/DOD/Biography

  b. Name of substance(s) which was found in the toxicology report.


  c. List the dangers/side effects of the substance(s). (What it does to the body/mind, etc.)
  d. How is the substance(s) used? (smoked, injected, inhaled, absorbed, snorted, drink, etc.)

  e. How is the substance addicting?

  f. What type of recovery/treatment process is available?


5. The PowerPoint should be informative with overall appearance.
6. Title Page and Reference Page included.
