Amul is one of India's largest dairy product producers and suppliers, distributing products domestically and internationally. It produces milk as well as other perishable dairy products like butter, spreads, cheese, paneer, dahi, ice cream, and ghee. Amul collects and distributes millions of liters of milk and dairy products per day through a complex supply chain network involving farmers, member unions, the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), distributors, and retailers to efficiently deliver products to consumers. Amul's effective supply chain management techniques have helped it achieve a 16% revenue growth in 2020-21 and account for over 13% of the world's milk supply.

Abstract of study

Amul is one of the largest dairy product producer and supplier of India but it is

difficult to supply and manage the whole system. Amul distribute its dairy product not only

Indian market but also International markets like Mauritius, UAE, USA, Bangladesh, Australia,

China, Singapore, Hong Kong and a few South African countries. Here we will study Amul dairy

supply management and techniques that Amul uses to distribute their products. Amul not only

known for milk its having a lot of business division or SBU like Amul butter, bread spreads,

cheese, paneer, dahi, ice cream, and Amul ghee etc. but these all are perishable products to avoid

products to be stale or rotten they needs to boom in their supply chain to move product as fast as

possible. We will study about supply management of Amul.

Today Amul collects and supply or distribute millions of liters milk and dairy

products per day. While the other dairy business struggles to streamlining their supply chain

where Amul gets it 2020-21 market share of 16% revenue growth. It is possible by effective

techniques to be used to gain strategic advantage. Now todays Amul caries accounting more than

13% of world milk supply and production. But India is one of the largest milk consumer its

almost consume all of Amul production itself. Overall, today Indian dairy market grows an

annual 7% of rate.

The distribution process is very vast there are a lot of middle mans, third party,

supplier and logistics process are involved to deal with supplies milk and other product. Though

the process isn’t easier than its looks here is a supply chain of Amul milk.

It is importance to provide the efficient service to their consumers so its

necessary to take a feedback of consumers from various area and villages and different region. In

terms of giving best service to the consumer. Consumers can shift their loyalties easily if they

don’t get what they want though consumer should get quality products.

Steps to improve the supply chain process

1. Enhance the Advertising and branding of various products.

2. Payment to they milk supplier on the time or intermittently payment system should adapt.

3. Quality checks at every level. And resolve the problems.

4. Educate suppliers about the things that can improve the efficiency of supply

management.

5. Using the technology to connect the farmers with veterinary doctors when the need.

6. Breeding and cross-breeding of animal to get better quality milk.


7. Provide each and every detail about product to their respective consumer.

8. Active consumer feedback and quick improvements of defects.

9. Active involvement of GCMMF employees in all activities of the member unions.

Distribution model of Amul Milk

Amul distribution model helps to India to emerge as largest milk producer

around the world. More than the 16M milk producer pour their in 185903 dairy cooperative

society. Their milk processed in 222 district cooperatives milk union mad sales in 28 state of the

country. The Amul Model of dairy development is a three-tiered structure with the dairy

cooperative societies at the village level federated under a milk union at the district level and a

federation of member unions at the state level. Amul not only known for milk his having a lot of

business division.
