Yoddha

Introduction
Yoddha is one who never quits and goes to any extent to throw the opponent out. Exactly we require
the same qualities in the robots that participate in this event. It’s all about fighting or wrestling. Here
the test is for robustness.

The one who makes the more power full and robust machine would ultimately defeat others. It is a
normal wrestling competition where in the robot has to push its opponent out of the ring of the arena.
The robot, which is pushed out, is knocked out of the competition. Good brainteaser for mechanical
engineer and a proven crowd puller.

Problem statement
The challenge is to create a robot (manually controlled / autonomous) whose sole purpose is to push,
throw, flip, drag, or otherwise move your opponent out of the arena within a stipulated time. This
event aims to test your Robot against another in a field of combat where brute strength and cat-like
reflexes hold the key to success.

Machine specifications

Dimensional specifications (physical)

The Robot can have a maximum dimension of,
Length:30 cm
Breadth:30 cm
Height:NO LIMIT
Weight: 4KG

NOTE:4KG weight includes the accessories for autonomous robot, but for the manual control robot it
excludes the controls or the wires.

Power specifications:

The robot must be self powered, i.e., power supply must be onboard. AC power supply will not be
provided, except for charging your batteries (in the breaks only).
The potential difference across any two points must not exceed 18 V.

NOTE: A tolerance of 5% is allowed in the above mentioned dimensional & power specifications, taking
into consideration the error of the measuring instruments that we use here and those used by the
participants in the making of the robot. This relaxation is scientific & tolerable.

The event
The prerequisites to appear for the rest of the event, like the weight of the Robot and the dimensions
of the Robot shall be measured.
The robots are then subjected to a qualifying round to satisfy the minimum requirements of the
wrestling Robot.

Qualifying round
 The robots will be given the challenge of pushing a block (of weight less than 2kg) as fast as possible
through a distance of 3mts.
 The arena will be a straight line path with a slope at the starting point.
 Each Robot has to start from a START line and a block will be placed on the slope which the robot
has to push it and reach the FINISH line.
 The FINISH is 3m ahead of the START.
 The Robot has to perform this task in a stipulated time.
 In case the block falls down while pushing, the robot has to start from the start line. But the time
will not start again.
 The contestants who clear this round will be qualified.

ARENA FOR QUALIFYING ROUND

Round-1
 The robots that have qualified in the previous round will now compete one on one.
 There will be two blocks (of weight less then 3kg) that will be placed in the respective red zones of
the players. The bots need to reach the ring on the top and place the blocks in the opponents red area
that is indicated in the arena.
 If any bot pushes the block out of the ring, it will get eliminated.
 The fight starts after both the bots have pushed the blocks into their opponents red zone.
 If any one bot has not yet done with the pushing of the block in its opponent red zone, till then the
bot that has first finished pushing the block will have to stay behind the half-line.
 If anyone fails in pushing the block into opponents red zone, the other team will be declared the
winner.
 In case of a tie in the fight, the bot that pushes the block into the opponent’s area first will be the
winner.

ARENA FOR ROUND ONE, TWO AND THREE

Round-2
 In this round the bots will be competing one on one. For the winner to be declared in this round it
needs to push the other bot out of the arena.
 The arena for this round will be same as that of the previous round.
 Three chances will be given to the contenders.
 There will be a stipulated time for this round.
 If the match after the 3 rounds ends in a draw, then the performance in the previous rounds will be
considered.

Round-3
 The contestants who won in round2 will fight in the finals.
 This round is also similar to that of the previous round but the number of rounds in each match will
be increased from 3 to 5.
 Like the case in the previous round if the match ends in a draw then the performance in the previous
rounds will be taken into consideration.
 The final winner of this round after the completion will be declared the winner of YODDHA 10.

Rules and regulations

1. Maximum of three are allowed per team.

2. The Robot can be either manually controlled or autonomous.
3. The Robot should not have pointed edges
4. The Robot should not contain any sucking device or glue to stick the ROBOT on to the base.
5. For manually controlled robots, there is no restriction on type of control, it may be wired or
wireless.
6. A ready made remote controlled set may also be used.
7. The remote control sets must be handed over to the event coordinator at the time of
reporting, so as to avoid any illegal control of the robot due to interference caused by the
intentional/unintentional matching of radio frequencies of different participants.
8. It is up to the participants to take care of their wires while wrestling which may get stuck to
one’s own robot or to other’s robots. No arguments regarding this issue will be entertained.
The coordinators decision in this regard and also regarding other issues will be the final.
9. The robots with wireless control will have an additional advantage.
10. The robot is not allowed to throw anything at the opponent. (E.g. Solid, Powder or some
liquid).

Note: Only qualified participants will be given certificate of participation.
