Identify periode of time in days, months, years and season

A. ASK ABOUT AND EXPLAIN DAY IN LANGUAGE ENGLISH

Befor study above ask about day in language English, we must understand

names day.

 Days of the week

1. It is Sunday

2. It is Monday

3. It is Tuesday

4. It is Wednesday

5. It is Thursday

6. It is Friday

7. It is Saturday

It is example dialogue for ask about and explain days.

Dialogue1

1. Dian : what is the day?

Linda : today is Monday or it is Monday

2. Dewi : what day is it today?

Arsinta: today is Saturday or it is Saturday

3. Anindya : what day is it tomorrow?

Rita : tomorrow is Tuesday

4. Nita : what day do you teach English?

Widya : I teach English on Monday.

Conclusion from dialogue mentioned is:


For ask about day there is two mien

a) by question “what is the day”

b) with word question “what day” then follower time. For example today,

tomorrow, yesterday, or time activity. Example:

1) what day is today?

2) What day is it now?

3) What day do you teach English?

c) For explain time we must used word “it” in the fron word time. Example:

It is Sunday

It is Saturday

It is Wednesday

B. ASK ABOUT AND EXPLAIN DATE, MONTH AND YEARS

1. Ask about and explain date

In ask about date is usually follow to the month name. for explain date

usually using word fist, second, etc. so if we sort from date first be:

1) First (1st)

2) Second (2nd)

3) Third (3rd)

4) Fourth (4th)

5) Fifth (5th)

6) Sixth (6th)

7) Seventh (7th)

Etc…………………..
While the name of the month is:

 January

 February

 March

 April

 May

 June

 July

 August

 September

 October

 November

 December

Study the following dialogue and we conclude together:

1) Tono : what’s the date today?

Tina : it is the second of November.

2) Amril : what date is it today?

Yumi : today is the second of November.

3) Yumna : what’s the date today?

Dani : it is November the second.

Based on the example above dialogue we can conclude:

1. For explain date can do with question “what is the date….?” Can the next with

today, now, tomorrow. Beside word “what is..?” can also used “what date”. If

follow activity or events releted to the day asked then the word adjust.
Example :

a. What date is your birthday?

b. What date did you see her for the first time?

c. What date do celebrate your birthday?

2. as in stating the time, explain the date also used the word “it” or can also use

word time wich intended, for example : today, tomorrow, and now. If used

activity then can mention activities, for example my birthday is on the first of

august.for explain date can be done in two ways, namely : the first, with date first.

Example : 8 January 1978. The second with month first. Example : January 8,

1978. Consider an example:

1 Today is the first of November It is November the first
2 It is the second of april It is april the second
3 Today is the third of may It is may the third

If date the used in sentence form, preposition used is “on”. Example :

 My father started to work in the office on the second of January, nineteen

seventy-two.

C. ASK ABOUT AND EXPLAIN MONTH

For ask about month, can the first with question mark, “what month” . used”what”

because name month is think, until question mark what wich use. If month the

fungtion as adverb of time then question mark use is when. Consider an example:
DIALOGUE

Rudy: what month is this?

Mery: this is October.

Rudy: what month is your birthday

Mery: it is in june

D. EXPLAIN YEARS

For explain year also first with word “what” because is meant “year”then

question mark so “what year” if year is noun then use question mark “what”, jika

year is adverb then use “when”. Example:

X : What year is it now?

Y : it is 2007.

X : When were you born?

X : I was born in 1975.

E. ASK ABOUT AND EXPLAIN SEASON AND WEATHER

How is weather today?

Is question for ask about condition weather. study the vocabulary:


Season = musim weather = cuaca hot = panas

Cold = sejuk sunny = musim panas cool = dingin

Rainy = penghujan cloudy = berawan windy = berangin

Foggy = berkabut snowy = bersalju

For ask about condition weather example:

1. What is the weather like

2. How is the weather today.
