1. Overview
In case that the actual lifting capacity (hoisting capacity) exceeds the rated range during
the working process of various cranes, the damage (breakage or crack) of main steel
structure components in the crane and even the tipping of the complete crane will be
incurred, and the consequence cannot be imagined. MCS670 intelligent monitoring
device for the engineering machinery can provide the security for your lifting equipment,
prevent the occurrence of overloading effectively, avoid the safe accidents as arm folding

MCS670 intelligent monitoring device for the engineering machinery integrates the
micro electronic technology, intelligent trouble diagnosis and dynamic system monitoring
technology, blends the mathematical modeling technology for the hydraulic pressure
system, and adopts the industrial High-Resolution display to comprise new type intelligent
lifting control system with the sensor and control mechanism. As for the design, it adopts a
large amount of the latest research results, absorbs numerous advantages of the present

3.Main Technical Indexes:
Intelligent monitoring devices collect the working state parameters of the crane in
real time through the pressure, length, angle transducer and other state detector, accurately
judge whether the crane is within the safe working range upon the treatment, and
intuitively and truly display the actual working conditions parameters by the characters/
graphs in the liquid crystal display, involving the arm length (length L), elevation (angle
A), working radius (range R), rated lifting capacity (MW), actual lifting capacity (actual
lifting capacity AW), and moment percentage (P) of the crane, which provide the
enormous convenience for the crane operator to comprehensively understand the working
state of the crane. When the crane is more than 90% rated moment, the intelligent
monitoring device will send the early warning signal timely. While reaching 100% rated
moment, it will send the warning signal, and quickly switch off the movement of the crane
towards the dangerous direction through the crane control mechanism, and confine the
crane only acting towards the safety directions till releasing the dangerous state.
MCS670 intelligent monitoring devices are controlled by the microcomputer, adopt
the modular structure, and have the significant improvement in the aspects of accuracy,
safe reliability, system operability, debugging method, and standardization. Especially the
installation and debugging adopt the push- button operation, graphs or characters display
prompt, and the debugging is simple and intuitive with friendly interface.
The telescopic crane is unnecessary to make any extra choice or adjustment, and the
monitor in MCS670 intelligent monitoring devices enters into the previous working
monitoring mode automatically. While selecting the auxiliary arm for working, 5.2.5.1 is
for your reference.
For the complete system fault self- diagnosis function, the system automatically makes
the peripheral and self fault detection after starting up.
The input and output signals are isolated. The analog quantity adopts 4~20mA signal
transmission, and is isolated from the host machine, with strong capacity of resisting

disturbance.
The display has backlight contrast adjusting function.
According to the need of the users, MCS670 intelligent monitoring devices can be
equipped with the anemometer sensor and work safely.
PWM output function, Closed-loop control and intelligent control are supported.
BTM driver circuit can directly drive 2A load.
The J1939 protocol is supported.
5. Instructions
While using, the intelligent monitoring device will make the peripheral and self state
detection of the system automatically upon the connection of power supply. If the intelligent
monitoring device is not unusual, it will enter the working monitor state of the crane. During
the monitor state, the system will automatically adopt the working condition state of the
previous operation, and the buzzer is allowed to ring normally. The screen display is shown as
Fig. 5.1.1/5.1.2/ The screen displays the current working conditions of main arm, auxiliary
arm or pulley at the arm end with direct icon(Fig 5.2/5.3), and displays crane working
parameters like the main arm length, detection value of the main arm elevation, height,
amplitude, rated lifting capacity, actual lifting capacity calculated value, the moment
percentage of the crane in real time, and engine parameter etc. and warning icon like working
situation at front and rear, overwind, overfall, the fifth landing leg overpressure and engine
failure etc. The left side of the screen displays the current working conditions information,
involving the length of cylinderⅠ, the selected multiplying power, the landing leg state, front
and rear state, and velocity of the anemometer etc.
The monitor mode mainly monitors whether the lifting of the objects exceed the allowed
range of the rated load. When the actual load is more than or equal to 90% of the rated load, the
pre-alarm is conducted (the alarm/ fault lamp is on, and the buzzer rings interruptedly). When
the actual load is more than the alarm setting of the rated load( the factory default is
100%), the alarm is conducted (the alarm indicating lamp is on, and the buzzer rings), and
the cut-off control signal is output, so as to prevent the crane moving towards the dangerous
direction.

1. The green section indicates the amplitude range when the rated moment of force is
0%~90%。
2. The yellow section indicates the amplitude range when the rated moment of force is
90%~100%。
3. The red section indicates the amplitude range when the rated moment of force exceeds
100%。
4. A indicates the actual amplitude under the current suspended load. The scale plate here
could change continuously, which indicates the amplitude in the process of the
dynamic simulation suspended load.
5. B indicates the distance between the amplitude under the current suspended load and

the possible maximum amplitude, which dynamically changes as the alteration of
actual amplitude.
6. C indicates the radio of the current moments of force which is the percentage moments
of force.
7. When the scale plate moves onto the juncture of green section and yellow section, the
force limiter alarms intermittently. When the scale plate moves onto the juncture of
yellow section and red section, the force limiter alarms intermittently and cuts off the
danger-oriented action, which shows the icon should keep up with the relevant control
of the force limiter.

5.2 Operation
Under the monitor state (Fig. 5.1/5.2/5.3), press button【 ◀ 】 and enter the quick
observation interface. In the quick observation column, the state of margin, and the
relative parameters of AD value and actual value of various sensors can be seen.

5.2.2 Backlight Control
After starting up and powering on, push button【 ▲】to enter Setting Interface of backli ght,
push button【 ◀ 】、【 ▶ 】 to adj ust luminance of backli ght (Fig. 5.6)
After starting up and powering on, the icon is under the monitor state (Fig.
5.1/5.2/5.3), indicating that the buzzer is allowed to ring normally. At this moment, after push
the button 【 ▼】 , the buzzer is switched to the prohibition state of ringing, and the icon will
automatically modify into . In case of the prohibition state of ringing, after push the

button 【 ▼】, the buzzer will recover the normal ringing state, and the icon will automatically
display as .。
After starting up and powering on, push button【 ▶ 】to switch language under the monitor
state (Fig. 5.1/5.2/5.3)。 The icon will be En when the operation interface is in
Chinese, and the icon will be CH when the operation is in English.
5.2.5 System Settings and Adjustment
After starting up and powering on, push button 【 ENT】 under the monitor state (Fig.
5.1/5.2/5.3) to enter the main menu interface. Select setting opinions by button 【 ▲】、
【 ▼】,
push button 【 ENT】to t he system parameter setting. All system settings will need inputting
security code except the working condition setting (Fig. 5.8)

Special instructions :Bef ore debuggi ng and setting please make sure
that the vehicle is in normal w orking condition. The setting of the working
conditions is consistent with the actual working conditions. The equipment does not
have the automatic detection setting function. The incorrect setting will directly
influence the calculation of the actual weight and the rated weight, which is very likely
to result in the inestimable consequence.
Under the submenu of setting of working conditions (Fig. 5.7), select to press the
icon of Basic Working Conditions, push buttons【 ▲】、【 ▼】 to choose the wor king
conditions that need setting, adj usting working conditions parameters by pressing
button【 ◀ 】、【 ▶ 】 . When setting the multiplying power, it should cycle between1-20;
selecting to set the landing leg condition which cycles between being stretched to the
maximum、being stretched to the half and not being stretched; selecting to set the fifth
landing leg condition which cycles between being stretched to the maximum、being stretched to
the half and not being stretched.; selecting to set the auxiliary arm for working condition
witch cycles between the working conditions of main arm, auxiliary arm 、 pulley at the arm
end or extended arm. When the auxiliary arm is set for working, select to set the auxiliary arm
length which cycles between auxiliary arm lengths that set by vehicle models. Select to set
auxiliary arm angle which cycles between 0,5,15,30. Select to set the active balancing weight
condition which cycles between the balancing weight of vehicle models. The options of
three -colored red li ght, three -colored yellow light and three -col ored green
light are the software testing channel for knowing whether the t hree -colored
light is nor mal. The three -colored red, yellow and green li ght can be turned on
and off by pressing【 ◀】、 【 ▶】,while selecting to turn on the three -colored red,
yellow and green li ght, the output port s of t he monitoring device export valid
electrical level. The maxi mum angle, the mini mum angle, the maxi mum
amplitude and the maxi mum altitude are compelled to be unmodif iable. Press
【 ENT】 to save when the setting is done. Press【 ESC】to exit and back to the
main menu interface. The modification resul t would not be saved i f 【 ENT】
is not pressed.

Notice:
Before the modification and the setting begin, please make sure that the vehicle is in normal
working condition. When the adjusted steel wire multiplying power is less than the designed
multiplying power of the crane, and the weight provided by the lifting capacity table is more
than the weight that the set multiplying power steel wire can bear currently, the rated lifting
capacity displayed by the intelligent monitoring device will be the weight that the steel wire
can bear currently, rather than the weight provided by the lifting capacity table. During the
actual operating process, the selected multiplying power should be consistent with the reality,
otherwise the safe accidents will easily arise.

Under the main menu interface (Fig. 5.7), select to press the menu item of Time
Setting to enter (Fig. 5.11). To select the needed setting item by pressing button【 ◀ 】
【 ▶ 】 ,and press 【 ▲】、【 ▼】 to modify the value of the selected item. Press
button【 ENT】 to save when the setting is done . Press button【 ESC】 to exit
and back to the main menu interface.

5.2.5.4 Online Adjust ment
Under the main menu interface (Fig. 5.7), select to press the icon of 【 Online
Communication】 to enter the online adj ustment i nterface (Fi g. 5.12). To
select the setting funct ion by pressing button【 ▲】 【 ▼】, and press button
【 ENT】 to enter the selected setting functi on ( Fi g.5.13/5.14/5.15 ) , then
press button【 ENT 】 to enter the selected operation.

Under the main menu interface (Fig. 5.7), to select the icon of 【 System Setting】
to enter (Fig. 5.16). This function item could also help modif y the
percentage of overloading data from 95% ~110% which has been cut off or restored.
And this function item could also select the anemometer function and inch
metric mode conversion based on the practical situation.

the AD value on the right of Fi g.6.2displays between 1500 -4095;
Back to the system debugging interface (Fig. 6.1), select the item of 【 Angle】t o make zero
adjustment and full adjustment by pressing button【 ▲】、【 ▼】 .
Zero Adjustment: level t he ar m, the zero adj ustment is successfull y done when
the AD value on the right of Fi g.6.2 displays between 0 -1200.
Full Adj ustment : raise the ar m t o the maxi mum angle, the full adj ustment is
successfully done when the AD value on the right of Fi g.6.8 displays between
1500-4095.
Notice: after the adj ust ment , confir m that the angl e is nor mal by amplitude
variation from the horizontal position of the main arm to the maximum elevation; The
displayed angle value should change unifor ml y during the process of amplitude
variation.

6.3 Amplitude Debuggi ng
Under the main menu interface (Fig. 6.1), select the item of 【 Amplitude Debugging 】
by pressing button【▲】 、【▼】, enter the interface( Fi g.6.2 )by pressing button
【ENT】. To select the setting functions by pressing button【 ▲】、 【 ▼】, and modif y the

mi nus 0.1t f or each time, the wei ght value after adj ustment should be equal to

Notice:among those five groups of data, the points at the basic arm and the fully stretched
arm must be collected. During the process of stretching arm continuously which start as the
basic arm, press button 【 ▼】once when the displayed wei ght is 0.2t -0.3t heavier
than the previous wei ght until the ar m stretches fully in place.

Rules of w eight adjustment : L0 ~ L4 indi cate five groups of arm length value
altogether, DW1 ~ DW5 are the values that calculated from the relevant
ar m length value. Press button【 ▼】 once to select the following group
after sampling a value, and so on. While ther e are precautions that need to be
taken: the grading tolerance of the 5 groups must ≥1.For example : sampl ing
when L0=10.5 , then t he follow sampling requirements ( the comparison
tolerance of the previous data sampling value ≥1) of L1 should be L1≥11.5 or
L1 ≤9.5. When sampli ng L2 , the sampling value should be compared to the
value of L0 and L1 , besides, the absolute value of the grading tolerance
should ≥1. Sampling requirements of L3, L4 are identical. Press button
【 ENT】 to calculate and save the data.

Under the system debugging interface (Fig. 6.1), select to set the item of 【 Secondar y
Debugging】 by pressi ng button【▲】 、【▼】, enter the interface ( Fig.6.3) by
pressing button【ENT】. To select two different weights to sample the Weight I and
Weight II (Operation methods of Weight I and Weight II are identical). Choose one of the
weights to enter the interface of Fig. 6.6 by pressing button【 ENT】 , and use button
【 ▲ 】、【 ▼ 】 to select function items (The same principle as the mai n
debugging). Press the item of 【 Weight Debugging 】 and enter the p oint
sampling function(Fi g. 6.7), the operation principles and rul es of the
secondar y debugging sampling and the main debugging sampling ar e the same,
except that secondar y debugging using the angle value (A1~A5) while the
main debuggi ng using the lengt h v alue(L1 ~ L5) . The change in wei ght
should be greater than the empt y hook wei ght when collecting weights with
continuous amplitude of variation, then press button【 ▼】 to collect at this
time.
Weight I : select a wei ght of 30% rated wei ght for mid -long ar m to conduc t the
vertical amplitude of variation in order to insure the accuracy of small and
medium tonnage.
Weight II:select a wei ght of over 50% rated weight for basic ar m to conduct the
vertical amplitude of variation in order t o insure the accuracy of large

7. System Maintenance
Before using the crane to work, it is necessary to make the visual check on various
components of the crane, MCS670 intelligent monitoring devices and various sensors, so as to
discover the abnormal conditions timely. Pay attention to the system self-checking of starting
up, and check whether having the fault tips in the screen, or observe whether the displayed
value of the length, angle and pressure are normal. In case of the abnormal phenomenon or the
fault tips, it is necessary to timely call to the professional for the proper handling.
During the daily usage, please pay attention to keeping the cleaning of the intelligent
monitoring devices. Do not let the rain water, oil, organic solvent and other harmful liquid pour
or splash in the intelligent monitoring devices and the internal sensor. Protect the heavy objects
or sharp objects from colliding and scratching the host machine and sensor and various
connecting leads.
In the hot summer, please pay attention not to let the intelligent monitoring devices expose
to the burning sun, so as to prolong its service life. Because the liquid crystal display possesses
the inherent characteristic with the comparatively sensitivity on the temperature, the liquid
crystal display in the host machine will have the relatively dark color under the higher air
temperature (above 35℃), and have the relatively light color under the lower air temperature
(below -10℃), which are the normal phenomena and will not influence the using effects.
Use the touch pen or pencil, eraser head to click the touch screen to the greatest extent. Do
not use the hands with the greasy dirty to click the screen.
It is necessary to pay attention to the working conditions of the storage battery and
generator frequently. If the storage battery and generator have the fault, the working
performance of MCS670 intelligent monitoring devices will be influenced.
Before failing to clarify the cause, it is not allowed to blindly dismantle the intelligent
monitoring devices, various components and sensors, for fear of enlarging the fault ranges, and
leading to other more serious faults.

When the display of the intelligent monitoring devices is abnormal, it is necessary to firstly
check whether various components are normal, and whether the cable and cable joint are
perfect. Then consult the following table, and check comparing with the situations. If failing to
remove the faults, please directly consult to our company and apply the service.
MCS670 intelligent monitoring devices can monitor whether various peripheral sensors
have the faults in real time. While having the fault, the fault lamp is on, without the weight
display (because at this moment the correct lifting weight can not be displayed).

9. Installation of products
The constituent parts of MCS670 intelligent monitoring device for the engineering
machinery include the intelligent monitor, pressure sensor, length sensor, angle sensor and
multicore shielded cable and aviation connector.

The system wiring of MCS670 intelligent monitoring device selects the multicore aviation
connector, and adopts the multicore shielded cable for the external connection. The aviation
plug bond connecting to the shielded cable is determined in accordance with the following
method. The plugging surface of the plug faces to the user and the locating notch faces down.
