Teaching Experience
2020-2021
Earlham Primary School (UK)
Year 1 Teacher
• Teaching all subjects to students in a Year 1 classroom (aged 5 – 6 years old) in the 2020-2021
school year
• Earlham Primary School is a primary school located in central London, UK.
• The students in my classroom are predominately English Language Learners with the school’s
demographic being primarily made up of Turkish and Bulgarian families. This has given me
valuable experience in creating lessons that are differentiated and catered to those who are
brand new to English.
• Spending a year at this school has given me the skills to confidently teach phonics and reading to
eager young learners. It has also given me the ability to explore and put into practice who I am
as a teacher.
• I currently lead the subject PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) within the school. This
involves being the coordinator and expert in this subject for all year levels.
2020
Step Teachers Teaching Agency (UK)
Supply Teacher
• Substitute teacher in the London area
• Taught students at the primary school age level (ages 4 – 11 years old)
• Through this experience I was exposed to teaching students of many ages and backgrounds.
• Working as a supply teacher provided me with the opportunity to improve my classroom
management and relationship-building skills with students in each of the classes I taught.
• I was hired as a long-term supply teacher at Earlham Primary school where I taught Reception
(aged 4 – 5 years old). This contract was cut short due to the pandemic.
2019
Copperfield School (Calgary)
Student Teacher (Professional Semester III)
• Grade: 3
• TA: Julie Molsberry
• UC: Sue Price
• Copperfield is a diverse community primarily made up of young beginning families of lower
household income.
• Teaching at this school largely helped grow my classroom management skills as there are many
behavioural needs within the school.
• Within my classroom I had experience teaching students with special educational needs. This
included creating whole class lessons with differentiation and mini lessons to work with specific
students one on one.
2019
Monsignor JS Smith School (Calgary)
Student Teacher (Professional Semester II)
• Teaching Drama to students in grades 7 - 9
• Teaching English to students in grade 8
• Teaching Social Studies to students in grades 8 and 9
• TA: Erin Ryland
• UC: Jocelyn Dimm
• I had the experience of teaching and preparing lessons for many English Language Learner (ELL)
students within the classroom
• Through extracurricular activities and hosting lunch time workshops, I had the opportunity to
create excellent bonds with my students and truly understand them as learners.
2018
Father Leonard Van Tighem School
Student Teacher (Professional Semester I)
• Grade: Kindergarten
• TA: Brigida Chambers
• UC: Mel Fletcher
• In this practicum I received significant experience learning how to teach through play-based
learning and hands-on learning experiences.
• At this stage in particular, I believe using the arts and encouraging students to think creatively to
solve problems is extremely valuable.
