Rules Guitar Mention 2012
RULES
Art. 1)
The Contest is open to all guitar players regardless their nationality, born between November
10th , 1980 and November 10th, 1995.
Art. 2)
Application forms should be send by fax or E-mail, and received no later than August 4th,
2012, to the following address.
Art. 3)
Application forms must include the following documents:
f) Two (2) black and white photographs (5 x 5 cms.) and two (2) pictures 10 x 15 cms for
promotional purposes with the candidate's name, country and age, on the back.
Art. 4)
The Pre-selecting Committee will select the participants based on the DVD and background
information supplied with the Application Forms (There will be no right to appeal).
Art. 5)
The Pre-selecting Committee will select the participants according to two categories, A and B.

A) The applicants accepted in the Category A, will be provided with an air round-trip ticket
from the capital of the participant's origin country, or the most direct way the contestant had
previously proposed on his registration form. It will be the entire responsibility of the
candidate to establish his residence in relation to the date of the Contest. The round ticket will
be paid in relation to the previously informed country of residence. The candidate will also
receive lodging (personal accommodation and meals) during the whole period his/her
participation on the contest lasts.
B) Those applicantswho have been selected on Category B, can also participate subject to the
approval of the Organizing Committee, provided they finance their own transportation. The
candidate will also received lodging (personal accommodation and meals) during the
competition.
Art. 6)
The selected contestant must prove to the Contest Organization, the proper travel insurance
policy, that should be valid for the full period of the travel and the competition. The insurance
must cover any kind of chances, freeing the organization of any cost or further responsibilities.
Art. 7)
The selected candidate must send a fax in which he/she accepts the established terms and
confirms his/ her participation in the Contest 40 days in advance to the starting date of the
contest. The Organizing Committee will hold the right to inform the World Federation of
International Music Contests and the professor(s) who had backed the application and any
unjustified failure to meet those obligations.
Art. 8)
The Contest consists of the following three stages:
The public will be admitted to all three stages, which will also be made known through written
press, radio and television.
Art. 9)
The contestants will be provided with piano accompanist, who will not be allowed to express
any personal preferences.
Art. 10)
The contestants who wished to be accompanied by a piano accompanist of his/her preference,
is allowed to bring him/her previous to the Organizing Committee approval and paying the cost
of his/her own fare.
Art. 11)
The contestants are allowed to rehearse their preliminary and semifinal stages with the piano
accompanist in the place of the Contest, for no more than one hour each.
Art. 12)
The contestants are required to return to their origin country on the day set by the organization,
up to a 48 hours after the end of the competition, or as soon as there is an available flight
reservation.
Art. 13)
The three finalists will have to offer a repetition concert, if the Organizing Committee decides
it, after 48 hours of the Final Stage.
Art. 14)
During the First Stage the contestants must be available for those academics or social activities
that might be generated as a consequence of the Musical Performance Competition.
Art. 15)
The candidates will keep exclusive dedication to the International Contest of Musical
Performance during the whole extension (from the day of its inauguration to the final day of the
Contest.
THE JURY
* The Jury of the Contest will be constituted by both Chilean and international well know
musicians.
* The internal rules which will be applied by the Jury will be explained to the contestants
before the Competition begins.
* No member of the Jury will be allowed to vote for his own pupil or ex-pupil.
* Should there be a tie, the vote of the Jury's President will be final.
* All of the Jury decisions are final, and not subject to appeal.
AWARDS
* Two Concerts during the "Semanas Musicales de Frutillar", accompanied by the Chilean
National Symphonic Orchestra, on February 2013.
REPERTORY
Group b) One work of a American Latin author not longer than six (6) minutes
Group c) The contestant must select one work from the following:

Group b) One work of classic or romantic virtuous selected from the following authors:
TWO CONCERTS for guitar and orchestra, selected from the following, one of those will be
selected by the Artistic Director and will be accompanied by the Regional Philharmonic
Orchestra, directed by the Artistic Director of the competition.
