Any or all of these concerns listed may be the result of problems in the B2 servo area. The B2 servo is located to
the rear on the passenger side of the case. Follow the steps below to check for misassembly, wear or incorrect
parts.

Step 1 Check the replacement ring for proper cross section

width, it should be approximately .135" wide (figure 1).

Step 2 Insert a new ring into the bore in an unworn area. If the ring end gap exceeds .012" the rind may be
incorrect. If the ring is correct, reposition it to the area of the bore with the most wear. If the gap exceeds .012"
replace the case.

Step 3 Many cases have an air bleed cup plug located at the 12 o'clock position in the B2 servo bore. If the case
is equipped for a cup plug, inspect the bore to ensure it is not missing (figure 2).

Step 4 Inspect the inner servo seal for damage and the proper direction of installation. The lip on the seal must
be facing outward to the piston (figure 2).

Step 5 Inspect the piston ring groove for wear. Install the
ring into the ring groove of the piston and measure the side
clearance with a thickness gauge. The gap should not exceed
.004" (figure 3).

Step 6 Install the internal parts of the piston in the order shown below (figure 4). Make sure you place the
springs in the proper positions.

Step 7 Install the large piston apply spring between the piston and the piston cover and not between the case
and the piston (figure 4).
