BATCH MAKING (GENERAL)

OBJECTIVE: To make the batch according to the given recipe.

SCOPE: This covers the method of dosing raw materials while preparing mixer batches and
filtration of the batch.

RESPONSIBILTY: Batch making operator

WORK INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Check that bottom valve of primary/primary secondary reactor is closed.


2. Check that inlet line valve to the specific batch making reactor is open.
3. Check that inlet line valve of the other mixer is closed.
4. Note mass flow meter reading of liquid RM.
5. Follow the sequence of RM dosing as per batch process sheet.
6. Allow the batch to mix as per the recommended mixing time.
7. Stop the reactor agitator when sampling.
8. Take the sample with a sampler from the manhole.
9. Check FF/ FA and colour of the sample taken.
10. Send the sample to QC for color & further analysis. Check the filter cloth of filter
press and tighten it properly.
11. Check the secondary vessel for any foreign material.
12. Open the bottom valve of primary vessel and start filtration and transfer to secondary
vessel.
13. Check the incoming of batch material in secondary vessel.
14. When the primary vessel got empty, blow the line with steam.
15. Add Perfume and IPA in secondary vessel.
16. Keep the empty RM bags into a specific location.

Control points:

Safety:
1. Use safety goggles and rubber gloves.
2. Close the manhole cover when charging solid RM/ scrap soap to avoid any splash of
hot liquid batch.
3. Check the top cover safety interlock with agitator & caustic valve once in a
shift.
Quality:
1. Check FA < 0.03% before adding EHDP/ EDTA.
2. Check FF < 0.2 after adding EHDP/ EDTA
3. Check the batch for complete dissolution of solid RM.
4. Gaf filter media should not be damaged/torn.
5. There should not be any foreign material/impurity in secondary vessel.
