Front End Engineering Design

FOR BU HASA WELL TIE-INS POST 2020

PROJECT NUMBER # P12516

Equinox Scope of Work

As a part of this contract Equinox scope of work is listed below, with assumption, wherever
possible.

 Review / further development / implementation, as applicable, all the critical decisions /

recommendations of the Pipeline Transient Hydraulic Analysis carried out during the Define
(FEED) stage
 Carry out a Pipeline Transient Hydraulic Study for the given pipeline and agreed scenario
 Prior to the simulation study the methodology, assumptions etc. will be submitted for
client’s approval.
 Software version to be used Aspen Hysys (Latest minus one Version). All the analysis will be
limited to the capability of the software platform Aspen Hysys.

Note: Equinox will discuss and agree with the client as to which one is the governing case
and all the analysis will be carried out on governing case pipeline and scenario
Equinox proposes to run the scenarios for three feed cases – Max Gas Case, Max
Hydrocarbon (Liquid) Case and Maximum Water Case
The data required, for the study is listed in Annexure-I (As indicative). The actual data
template will be issued before the kick off meeting.
A typical sequence of project execution steps, is listed in Annexure-II

1. Base Scope: Rework the FEED study with latest pipeline profile, pipeline diameter and
H&MB.
i. To do Ramp up of well fluid and study:
• Pressure-Temperature Profile: To generate the pipeline pressure and
temperature profile
• Surge analysis: To confirm the surge volume generated.
ii. To do Ramp Down of well fluid and study:
• Pressure-Temperature Profile: To generate the pipeline pressure and
temperature profile
• Surge analysis: To confirm the surge volume generated.
2. To conduct pressure surge analysis for all on & off plot piping, limited to the 35 P&IDs, to
evaluate the effect of pressure hammering in the liquid systems (i.e. pumps, etc.), as
applicable. The scenarios for which surge analysis will be identified and only agreed
scenarios will be evaluated.

Additional Scope – Optional

1. Shut down & start-up of a well head:
• Pressure-Temperature Profile: To generate the pipeline pressure and
temperature profile
• Surge analysis: To confirm the surge volume generated.
• Minimum stable flow: Minimum flow that can be achieved before system
becomes unstable.

2. Carry out hydraulic calculations to ensure that its plot plan, equipment elevations,
equipment design pressures and associated facilities are compatible with each other.
3. Surge analysis is to be carried out by where appropriate. The hydraulic studies shall
include both dynamic and steady-state models.
LIST OF STUDIES

More specifically the following analysis will be performed / reported:

• Base Scope
1. To generate the pipeline pressure and temperature profiles for design case and
turndown cases (75 % 50 % and 25% of design case).
2. To determine the slug volume generated during production ramp-up / ramp-down
• Additional Scope
1. To determine whether further slug control mitigation is required or whether the highest
slug volume can be avoided by operating procedures.
2. Determine the response time and pressure to rise above the recommended design
/safety levels, at each well head platform after the complete closure of SDV at the
Process Platform
3. To define design pressure and temperature conditions
Annexure-I
Data Requirement (Typical)

a) Composition of fluid
b) Design Flow Rates, Max water and Gas content
c) Pipeline Details for the well head platforms
d) Wall Material Properties
e) Pipeline design data
f) Environmental Data
g) List of process simulations deliverables (Appendix 3.1, 3.3, 3.4 and 3.11)
Annexure – II
Sequence of Steps, after the project is awarded – On Kick off.

Some of the steps may not form part of the scope, as per the final decision and agreement
on the kick off.

A Scope of Work along the lines of that detailed below would be agreed with the client prior
to any surge analysis being undertaken.

• Engineering familiarisation with the project and study objectives.

• Equinox, to discuss system philosophy and request additional data (over and above the
basic minimum data given in Annexure-I)
• Preparation of a mathematical model to be used for the steady state and transient
analysis phases of the study
• Computation of steady flow and pressures to determine achievable flowrates for
extremes of static and friction conditions.
• Execution of computer simulations of transient events to determine the maximum and
minimum surge pressures which are then compared with the system rating.
• Determination of maximum out of balance load forces between nodal locations
throughout the computer simulation
• If necessary, appropriate surge suppression / alleviation techniques are proposed and
verified.
• Provision of a report, including graphical results and full engineering recommendations,
if applicable.
• A full record of the study and the mathematical model are retained in accordance with
the requirements of our Quality Management System.
