acceptable within their premises.It helps in structuring the acceptable behaviors of the employee
on a day to day basis with accordance to the social norms. The code of conduct is designed to
match the overall organization’s culture and should conform to its vision, mission and core
values. Mostly, new joiners in an organizationare compelled to accept the code of conduct after
recruitment by appending their signature to ascertain their acknowledgement and consent of the
document.
IBM is an international company which offers jobs to thousands of employees across the
globe. They have one code of conductdocument that makes their employees all over their outlets
drafted to address issues such as conflict of interest, employee attendance, employee interoffice
relationships, dress codes and use of social media. It also warns the stakeholders against
violating the set rules and in an eventuality of breaking them, the consequences that follow.
Every new employee in this organization is required to read and comprehend the code of
conduct document, upon which will append their signature at the bottom of the template.
Majority of the employees are compelled to adhere to the rules and regulations drafted in the
code of conduct document.Nevertheless, signingthe code means that the employee has read and
understood the document and the implications accompanied by violation of any rule written
down in the document. Although, there maybe a few bad apples as always who, ignore and even
don’t read and comprehend the document by before accepting it by signing, we say ignorance
has no defense therefore they will be held accountable for any consequences associated.

In the employee relationships code of ethics in this company, the company does not
prohibit co-worker relationship and marriage but only for people who are at the same
ranking/level. Interoffice relationships where employees of different ranks are involved is highly
prohibited due to compromise on professionalism. This is viable and valid concern and the
organization’s effort to maintain theirintegrity within their work force is commendable. Another
example of a mandatethat is used to draft the code is prohibition of using social media platforms
during working hours. This rule helps in exempting workers from activities that might deter them
from utilizing the available working hours leading to low productivity rates. (Tourani et al.,
2017)
Employees within the organization should profess several values of conduct such as
behaved. These core values will enable interaction within the organization easier and frictionless.
An employee’s society which respect and adhere with the societal social norms will always be
easy to manage and productivity rates will also be high. IBM's employee code of conduct is as an
ethical document since it deals with the ethics of their stakeholders and their behavioral conduct
within the organizations.It is also a legalcontract between the employer and the workers since it’s
one of the company’s expectations from their employees and it’s an important document in their
