1. HOW TO MEASURE

Purpose: To insure the measurement accuracy of Goody's Family Clothing private label
products by establishing "How To Measure" guidelines.

Criteria

* All Goody's associates and all garment suppliers responsible for measuring garments must follow
the guidelines as described in this procedure.

* Any special instructions on the "Graded Specification Sheet" will always over-ride the standard
procedure.

Important Measurement Guidelines

a. For continuity, all measurements are to be taken on the wearer's left side of the garment.

b. All measurements are for finished garments, including after wash or garment dye if applicable.

c. All measurements are to be taken with:

A. Garment laid flat and free of tension on a smooth surface with wrinkles smoothed.

B. Buttons, zippers, snaps, etc. closed, unless otherwise specified.

2. GRADE RULES / MEASUREMENT TOLERANCES

a. GRADE RULES
Goody's Grade Rules will vary by product category. All Cost Specifications will be issued on a Grading
Template showing the Standard Grades for that particular product.

Upon approval of a fit sample, an "Approved Graded Specification" will be generated.

Generally, the grades used on the "Approved Graded Specification" will be the same as the Cost
Specification. However, if problem is detected during the fit, a grade may be changed.

ANY SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS OR GRADE CHANGES ON THE APPROVED SPECIFICATION WILL

ALWAYS OVERRIDE THE STANDARD.

b. MEASUREMENT TOLERANCES

Goody's Measurement Tolerance Standards will be on all Cost Specifications.

These tolerances will be carried over to the "Approved Graded Specification" unless it becomes
necessary to make a change.

Any sample that measures within these tolerances will be accepted (for sizing purposes), unless the
appearance is affected.

FOR EXAMPLE:
Back pocket placement from waistband is 3 1/2", the tolerance is 1/4". If the right side of the pocket is
3 1/4" from the waistband and the left side of the pocket is 3 3/4" from the waistband, the product is not
acceptable. Even though both sides of the pocket are within the tolerances, the pocket is crooked and
the appearance of the product has been affected.

ANY SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS OR CHANGES ON THE APPROVED SPECIFICATION WILL ALWAYS

OVERRIDE THE STANDARD.

4. THREADS

Many of the defects that cause a shipment to fail an audit are thread related.
Seam integrity and appearance can have a tremendous impact on the disposition of an audit.
Incorrect thread application is very costly to the manufacturer and will result in a degraded finished product.
The following information and recommendations are meant to assist Goody's vendors in providing us with quality
products.

a. Thread size
Thread ticketing can be very confusing. Due to this confusion, the Thread Institute has developed
"Tex Range System" ("TEX").
*"TEX" is equal to the gram weight of 1,000 meters of greige yarn or raw fabric.
All major thread manufacturers are labeling their threads according to this system.
The ticket number is an indicator of the amount of raw fiber present in the thread. It is based on
greige thread rather than finished thread. Finishing processes (bleaching, mercerizing, stretching,
dying) can change the thread size.
The smaller the number, the finer the thread (lesser amount of fiber), and the larger the number, the courser
the thread (larger amount of fiber).

b. Thread Testing
All thread manufacturers should provide the vendor with the test results of their thread. Threads
should be tested for and must pass most of the same physical property tests as fabric (elasticity,
tensile strength, elongation, shrinkage etc.)
Colorfastness tests results should also be required by the vendor.

c. Thread Use Recommendations

The threads used to construct a product will make a difference in the appearance and performance
of that product.
Goody's has asked American & Efird, Inc. (A & E Thread Company) to provide us with
recommendations that can be used by us and can be passed on to our vendors to assist them in
proper thread applications.

For thread applications see the following charts.

For further assistance you may visit A & E's web site at www.amefird.com.

THREAD APPLICATION GUIDE

The threads recommended below are the most common thread types and sizes used by manufacturers. #1
Selection should be used where there are special requirements, such as: a) sewing on automated multi-directional
machines; b) for sewing particularly hard to handle fabrics; and c) where quality seaming is a must. #2 Selection
should be used where the sewing requirements are not as difficult and cost is the major consideration.

The following is Goody's interpretation of Critical, Major, and Minor defects. This information is to be used in conjunction
with the defect classification of the Vendor or Agent.

a. Critical defect
1. A defect that prevents a product from meeting Federal or Legal requirements.
2. A defect that can cause harm to the Consumer.

IF A CRITICAL DEFECT IS FOUND IN A SHIPMENT, THE SHIPMENT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

b. Major defect
1. A defect that causes a product to be non-saleable.
2. A defect that causes the product to be returned to the store by a dissatisfied customer.

c. Minor defect
1. A defect that does not significantly affect the appearance or performance of a product,
but, by occurring consistently within a shipment, can degrade the value of the shipment.

No vendor should send to Goody's any product with any of the above defects.
If a garment can be upgraded, repairs should be made. If a garment cannot be upgraded, it should
be pulled from the shipment and held in the factory.
