Task 1
Install VMware client and connect to the server.
The VMware Client application is a Windows application that allows you to bind to an ESXi host or a
vCenter Server instance directly. This software can be installed in a two ways:
 Using VMware vCenter Server Installer.

 Connecting to an ESXi host or a vCenter Server instance through a web browser. The Welcome
page will appear when you navigate to vCenter Server or an ESXi host in your browser. Simply
click the Download vSphere Client connection from there. It's worth noting that an Internet
connection may be needed to complete the installation.
Steps for installation:
1. Go to the installation software's location and double-click autorun.exe:
2. Click on the VMware

vSphere Client: in the VMware vCenter Installer window.
3. To begin the installation wizard, click Install.
4. Select the language for the installation and then click OK:
5. Choose the Next button on the welcome page:
6. Choose I agree to the terms of the license

agreement and proceed to the next step:
7. Select Next button after configuring the destination folder:
8. To begin the installation, click Install:

Task 2
You are have been provided with pc running a server operating system. You are required to
perform a physical to virtual conversion of the system volume. Do not convert the data volume.
Use a word processor to document the activities you performed:
1. Record the IP address, username and password of the V-Centre server.

3. Make a list of the tasks you performed when doing the physical to virtual conversion

4. How did you test the correct operation of the Virtualized Machine?
 As you can see from the screenshot above, whatever software was installed on the physical
computer, as well as the operating system, remained unchanged, After it was converted to a
virtual machine, the hardware resources available.
5. How did you integrate the virtual machine into the rest of the network?
 By joining the virtual machine to our cluster, we were able to link it to the rest of the
network. The virtual machine was automatically allocated to our host through our VCenter
Cluster, with the same resources as its physical hardware resources.
6. What tools or software will enhance the performance or manageability of the new virtual
machine created by the conversion and how will you install them?
 VMware Tools should be installed since it is a collection of utilities that improves the
efficiency of the virtual machine's guest operating system and simplifies management.
Without VMware Tools installed in the guest operating system, the output of the guest
operating system is relatively limited. This tool can be set up in a number of ways which are
as follows:
To install VMware Tools:
 Switch the virtual machine on.

 To log in to the virtual machine, use an account with Admin or root permissions.
 Waiting for the desktop to load should be a must.
 Locate the Install VMware Tools menu item in the VMware product's user interface, which is
usually located under a Virtual Machine or Guest Operating System menu.
 Depending on the operating system you specified when creating the virtual machine, the
appropriate ISO CD-ROM image containing VMware Tools is mounted to the virtual
machine's virtual CD-ROM.
 Connect to the virtual machine, and then install the installed VMware tools from the virtual
CDROM, continuing until the installation is completed.

Task 4
Create a VM snapshot. Make changes to the VM and revert to the snapshot Created a folder
‘SNAPSHOT’ on a virtual machine ‘VM-Q’
Took a ‘SNAPSHOT' pic.
Deleted the ‘SNAPSHOT' folder.
Empty the Recycle Bin

Manage the Snapshot folder
Restore the ‘SNAPSHOT’ folder

VM-Q turned off automatically after successfully restores the selected snapshot folder.
VM-Q returned to its previous state before removing the folder ‘SNAPSHOT'.
Task 5
Test the High Availability environment to ensure that if a host fails VM's are restarted on another
host Use a word processor to document the activities you performed: How did you test the high
availability environment and what were the results?

Task 6
Use the VCentre Server performance analyzer to determine network bandwidth utilization during
VM migration and identify network bottlenecks. Use a word processor to record the results.

bandwidth during this event.
