WRITTEN REPORT IN ASIAN STUDIES

TOPIC: NINE EXCELLENT DOCUMENTARIES ABOUT ASIA


INTRODUCTION:
Asia it is the largest and most populous continent and they have a lot of beautiful places.
When it comes to economies the Asian countries are significantly rising and in some countries
they have high quality education. Their culture encompasses the collective and diverse
customs and traditions of art, architecture, music, literature, lifestyle, philosophy, politics and
religion but are we aware on the issues or problems that affect those people's laugh and
smile?

CONTENT:
These are the nine documentaries in Asia where we can see the life of those people who are
living in the same country as them. In Northern Japan, The Birth of Saké (2016), is a
documentary that reveals the history of passionate sake makers, and what it takes to create a
traditional sake at the Yoshida Brewery, a family distillery with more then 140 years of
history. Also in Japan, Jiro Dreams of Sushi (2012), is an inspiring and lovely documentary on
the determination of Jiro, the greatest sushi chef. Salam Neighbor (2015), two Americans who
head to the edge of war, just seven miles from the Syrian border, to live among 85,000
uprooted refugees in Jordan's Za'atari camp. Sky Ladder: The Art of Cai Guo-Qiang (2016), A
documentary film about the lofe and work of Cai Guo-Qiang known for his artwork with the
help of gunpowder. In North Korea, The Propaganda Game (2015), it shows the intimate look
inside the world’s most locked down and satirised nation, serving as an interesting portrait of
the way in which North Korea wishes to be viewed. Dennis Rodman’s Big Bang in Pyongyang
(2015), A frequently hilarious but brutally observant documentary about the flamboyant
former NBA star's misadventure in North Korea. In Myanmar, They Call It Myanmar — Lifting
the Curtain (2012), This film provides a rare look into the second most isolated country on the
planet held in a stasis by a brutal military regime for almost a half century. In India/China, It’s
a Girl — The Three Deadliest Words in the World (2012) in this documentary it exposes the
depressingly common world of female infanticide in India and China and what it means to be
a woman in many parts of the world today. Hooligan Sparrow (2016), documentary about a
child rape case in China — and the fearless protest against it — exposes a government that
only pretends to uphold the rule of law.

CONCLUSION:
To conclude, the first four documentaries is all about on making peace, pursuing their
dreams, their sacrifce, and their determination to finished or to faced the challenges that
they encounter. The last five documentaries is more on discrimination, greediness of power
by the officials, limiting the human rights, and inhumane acts. I hope that one day, we can
overcome those issues or problems. May we able to remove those habit that can cause
incognizance, so that we can live peacefully without hurting other people.
