1. Komodo Village
One of the villages that is located within the Komdo Islands, in the valley of mount Ara that
is being managed by the Komodo’s national park. Most of the people make a living by
fishing. The rest of them become a carver. Once you reach Komodo Village, you may see
some houses use a “Panggung” design and mostly made of wood. The village also features
simple pavement. A unique part is a dock. You can walk on it and enjoy the beauty of the sea.
Some local boats are parked near to the dock. There are also several kids riding a boat.
Despite their age, they are able to navigate the boat easily. This is a unique sight during your
vacation.
By sea:
Komodo National Park is serviced by a wide range of live-aboard boats, with return packages
to Komodo National Park from a variety of departure points, including Bali, Lombok, Bima
and Labuan Bajo.
The Komodo village can be reached by renting a boat by locals for 4 hours from Labuan Bajo
to Loh Liang, the main gate to the komodos village.
You can catch a flight to Labuan Bajo Airport (also known as Komodo Airport) from both
Bali and Jakarta for between $120-180USD by Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air, Batik and Nam
Air with multiple other routes offering connecting flights. From the airport you can go to the
town by taxi which is located less than 10 minutes away from the airport. The taxi will cost
you not more than 50.000,00 - 60,000,00 IDR and heres a tip for you, before getting in the
price could be negotiated. You also can walk for 20-30 minutes (it’s downhill).By Land:
The gateway cities of Labuan Bajo and Bima are connected to Denpasar, Bali by overland
buses. By Sea (ferry): Travel time: approximately 36 hours
