Good evening, for those that don’t know me I am coach
Marty Patrilla. This is was my first year coaching at St. Francis.
It really makes it fun when you have a great staff at both levels and a group of kids that wanted to learn and play the game. I coached the running backs and the defensive ends. Overall I felt each week, as individuals and as a team we improved and got better. I feel that that was evident in our final game in a win over St. Johns. We were fortunate to have a great group of kids that wanted to get better.
One of those kids is Marc Elfering. Marc played Defensive
End and a little offensive center for us. He is very hard working, hard-noised kid. He played with a physical attitude that you want in a football player. He is going to grow and be a fine football player for seasons to come. Great season, keep up the hard work.
Next I would like to call on Jack Reese. Jack played
defensive end and did long snapping. Jack is a kid you can always count on to go into a game and play his butt off, and play the way we coached him to play. He is going to develop into a fine football player. Good job and good luck.
Jacob Price. Price is kid that improved every week at
fullback and defensive end. He became a more physical football player as the season went on. He improved because he was always on scout team trying. And so becoming a better football player. As he keeps improving he is going to be a good football player at the jv and varsity level.
Michael Cassis. This was his first year playing football.
Michael came right into two-a-days and started asking questions about the game and his position of defensive end. He wanted to learn the game. He was one that if he made a mistake he knew it and would ask how to get better. He has turned in to a fine football player. He has the framework and mind set to be good football player. Best of luck in the future.
James Smith. James is a great kid, he worked his butt off.
He got beat up in practice on scout team. But all that hard work paid off for him. He had the opportunity to run the ball a few times in a couple games and he ran hard and scored a touchdown. It makes you happy as a coach to see a kid get rewarded for his hard work. Good job and stick with it we need players like you.
Kevin Dietsch. Kevin started off the season as a Defensive
end. After the first practice I went to coach Eurem who coaches the linebackers and said I have a kid that I feel can be a great linebacker. He has that fire and the smarts of a great linebacker. Sure enough he was a great linebacker for us. Thanks Kevin. Keep up your hard work. Good luck.
Jay Snell. Jay is a great kid to coach. No matter what
position he was playing or if it was scout offense or scout defense or in as a starter he played his heart out. He is a very hard-noised kid and it showed in the St. Johns game where he had a great game playing fullback. Great Job Jay.
Kevin Greenoe. Kevin is an all-around great kid and
football player. He was involved on every special team and played fullback and defensive end. He is a respectful kid that enjoys playing the game of football. It was my pleasure coaching him. He works hard and it is going to carry on to every sport he plays and the rest of the career here at SFS. I am looking forward to watching him play this game at the next level. He has the ability and mindset to be a great football player. Thanks Kevin for all your hard work this season. Best of luck. Lastly is Michael Wagner. Michael is one the nicest and cool-natured kid I have ever been around. He is a player that every coach wants to have the opportunity to coach. He is all- around great athlete. He has the speed and the size to do a lot. He is one of the hardest working kids around and he showed it everything we did this season. Every offensive practice when we would go Team Offense, he would make a bet with me. If he would score on his first carry I would owe him a Gatorade. I think I owed him like 6 Gatorades by the end of the year. It goes to show that this kid is a great player. He ran hard every time he got the ball and has the skill and inner drive to score every time he touches the ball. Thanks for all your hard work and best of luck next year and in all the other sports you play.
