Once upon a time there lived a little girl named Snow White. She lived with

One day she heard her uncle and aunt talking about leaving Snow White in
the Castle because they both wanted to go to America and they didn’t have
enough money to take Snow White.
Snow White did not want her uncle and aunt to do this so she decided it
would be best if she ran away. The next morning she ran away from home when
her aunt and uncle were having breakfast. She ran away into the woods.
She was very tired and hungry. Then she saw this little Cottage. She knocked
out but no one answered so she went inside and fell asleep. Meanwhile, the seven
dwarfs were coming home from work. They went inside. There they found Snow
White sleeping. Then Snow White woke up. She saw the dwarfs. The dwarfs said,
what is your name? Snow white said, “My name is Snow White.” Then Snow
White told the dwarfs the whole story and 7 dwarfs lived happily ever after.

Malin Kundang

A long time ago on a small beach in Indonesia, lived a woman and her son, who
was called Malin Kundang. They did not have very much money, but Malin
Kundang was a healthy strong boy who was a good boats man and swimmer. One
day, Malin Kundang saw a trader’s ship in trouble. It was being raided by a small
band of pirates. Malin Kundang went to help the ship and fought off the pirates.
The trader was very grateful to Malin Kundang, and very impressed by his

strength and bravery. He asked Malin Kundang to work with him and Malin
Kundang agreed. Malin Kundang made lots of money. He bought a huge ship of
his own and married a beautiful wife.
Many years later, Malin Kundang’s ship landed on the small beach where he grew
up. People in the beach recognized him, and the news traveled around the village.
His mother, who had been sad and lonely without him, heard the news and ran to
the beach to meet her beloved son.
Malin Kundang, wearing his expensive clothes and standing with his beautiful
wife, did not recognize his mother and refused to greet the poor old woman. His
mother begged him to see her three times, but he declined. His mother was angry.
She shouted that she would turn him into stone unless he apologized. Malin
Kundang laughed and started to sail away into the calm sea. Suddenly a
thunderstorm descended. Malin Kundang’s ship was tossed on the huge waves,
and sank. Malin Kundang was thrown from the ship onto a small island and
turned into stone.

A long time ago on the top of Mount Kinabalu in Borneo, there lived a
dragon. He owned a large and beautiful pearl. People believed that he controlled
the weather with it.
The emperor of China heard this and wanted the pearl. He sent his two
sons, Wee Ping and Wee San to Borneo to steal it. The princess, together with one
hundred soldiers, set sail for Borneo in twelve sailing junks.
When they arrived in Borneo they set out immediately to find the famous
mountain. Their journey up the rugged slopes of mount Kinabalu proved very
difficult. The dragon guarded his cave very fiercely and killed many of their
soldiers.
Then Wee San had a clever idea. He climbed a tall tree, so he could see the
dragon’s cave. He noted what time the dragon left his cave to hunt for food and
what time he returned to it.
Next he ordered his men to make a fake pearl and a large kite. He waited
until the dragon left his cave. Then he placed the fake pearl in a bag, slung it
across his shoulder and flew up to the mountain-top on the kite. He exchanged the
pearl for the fake one and then his brother pulled his kite back to the ground.
The brothers quickly returned to their ships and set sail for China. They sailed
safely home. The Emperor was thrilled with the pearl and gave a big party to
celebrate his sons’ return.
