Lesson Plan

DLP No. Learning Area: Science Grade Level: 10 Quarter: 4 Duration: 1hr
Learning Competency: Investigate the relationship between volume and pressure at Code: S10MT-IVa-b-
constant temperature of a gas. 21
Key Concepts/ A. According to Boyle’s law, an inverse relationship exists between pressure and
Understanding to be volume
Developed: B. Boyle’s law holds true only if the number of molecules (n) and the
temperature (T) are both constant.
C. The relationship for Boyle’s law can be expressed as follows: P 1V1 = P2V2,
where P1 and V1 are the initial pressure and volume values, and P 2 and V2 are
the final pressure and volume
Knowledge Discuss the relationship between pressure and volume of the gas.
Skills Solve a problem involving pressure and volume.
1. OBJECTIVES Attitudes Work with optimism in doing group/by pair activities.
Values Relates the concept of Boyle’s law in real life.

Gas Laws: Boyle’s Law

2. CONTENT
3. LEARNING -Science 10 Curriculum Guide
MATERIALS - www.owlcation.com, www.leisurepro.com, Introduction to Chemistry p. 170
/RESOURCES -manila paper, plastic bottle, balloon
4. PROCEDURES
4.1 Introductory Activities A. Review
(15 min) - Alright! As a review, what are the general properties of gases?
- When we say diffusion what happens to the particles inside the container?
- What about compression?
- What about expansion?
- What about pressure?
- What about effect of heat?
B. Motivation: Perform an exercise along with the students.
Here’s how to do it:
1. Breathe in through your nose for a count of four, feel your belly expanding.
2. Hold that breath for a count of seven.
3. Then blow out through your mouth for a slow count of eight. If you can,
put your tongue behind your bottom teeth and making a whooshing sound
as you exhale.
C. This will lead to the introduction of the content topic and key questions
(objectives) to be answered/demonstrated at the end of the lesson.
D. The teacher will have brief discussion focusing on the concepts/understanding
to be developed.
4.2 Activity (15min) EXPERIMENT:
a. Provide standards for the group activity.
b. Giving the mechanics of the activity.
1. The students will place the balloon inside the plastic bottle and insert the
opening tip of the balloon to the opening tip of the bottle.
2. Make a hole at the bottom of the plastic bottle using a thumbtack.
3. Take another balloon and cut it in a half. Then, place it in the bottom of the
plastic bottle where there is a hole. and;
4. Pull the center area of the balloon and watch as the balloon inside expands and
then return the balloon to its original position and the balloon inside
compresses.

4.3 Analysis (10 min) > The teacher will raise questions with regards to the activity.

4.4 Abstraction (5min) The teacher will briefly talk over the most essential parts of the topic.
(reaffirmation of the key concepts/understanding to be developed)
4.5 Application (5 min) The teacher will provide sample problems for the students to answer.
State the importance of Boyle’s law.
5. Evaluation (10 min) 1.) A gas occupies 25.3 ml at a pressure of 790.5 mmHg. Determine the volume if
the pressure is reduced to 0.804 atm.
2.) Convert 77.0 L at 18.0 mmHg to its new volume at standard pressure.
6. Assignment Direction: Study the next topic.
1. What is Charles law?
2. What are the variables involve in Charles law?
5. REMARKS

6. REFLECTIONS

A. No. of who earned

80% in the evaluation
B. No. of learners who
require additional
activities for remediation.
C. Did the remedial
lessons work? No. of
learners who have caught
up with the lesson.
D. No. learners who
continue to require
remediation.
E. Which of my learning
strategies worked well?
Why did these work?
F. What difficulties did I
encounter which my
principal or supervisor
can help me solve?
G. What innovation or
localized materials did I
use/discover which I wish
to share with other
teachers?
