INTRODUCTION
This manual is published for the guidance of personnel responsible for the overhaul of the BRION LEROUX
AERONAUTIQUE assembly covered in this publication.
The prodecure described in this manual may be altered if better and/or more economical methods can be
employed by the individual facilities.
However, the alternate procedures must not lessen the efficiency of operation of the assembly, and all torque
and specific limits or values contained herein must be strictly observed.

1 - PURPOSE
The purpose of this data is to display the following data by means of three pointers :
- rotor rpm (NR) shown by the center pointer,
- speed of free turbine No. 1 (NTLl) with pointer “1”,
- speed of free turbine No 2 (NTL2) with pointer “2” ,
The dial is graduated from 0 to 450 rpm over a deflection range of 230” .
The scale is compressed from 0 to 100 rpm and features the following markings :
- For indicators P/N 7813-l 77-00-l 1 and 7813-177-00-l 2
- Outer zone :
. green arc from 359 to 402 rpm,
. yellow arc from 355 to 359 rpm,
. redlines at 359 rpm and 402 rpm,
. red triangle at 425 rpm.
- Inner zone :
. white triangle at 170 rmp,
- green arc from 375 to 394 rpm,
. yellow arc from 330 to 375 rpm and from 394 to 425 rpm,
. redlines at 330 rpm and 425 rpm.
- Inner zone :
, red BNL linesat 330 rpm and 425 rpm,
. yellow BNL arcs from 330 to 375 rpm and from 394 to 425 rpm,
, green BNL arc from 375 to 394 rpm.

It is mounted by means of four 4 mm-diameter tapped holes in the front panel and is electrically
connected via a connector at the back.
3 - DESCRIPTION (figure 2)
Each indicator comprises three distinct electronic circuits which process the signals coming from
tachogenerators associated with each free turbine (NTL 1 and NTL 2) and from the sound
wheel sensors associated with the rotor.
Each NTL circuit includes an NTL PCB supplied by 28 V which operates a frequency-to-vol-
tage conversion of the signals coming from the tachogenerator to drive a servo-galvanometer.
The NR circuit includes an NR PCB which processes the signals coming from the sound wheel
sensor.
In normal operating conditions, the power supply for this chain is provided by the supply system
on board.
However, it is capable of operating autonomously with the power provided by the sensor.

A. Required equipment
1 sinusoidal signal generator, adjustable from 0 to 15000 Hz, output voltage : 5.2 rms into
10 kQ (Gl)
1 sinusoidal signal generator, adjustable from 0 to 500 Hz, output voltage : 5.2 rms into 10 k&Y2(G2)
1 oscilloscope
B. Testing conditions
- Hygrometry : 85 %
Then :
- Using the signal generator (Gl), adjusted for a voltage output of 5.2 V rms, bring
pointer “1” of the indicator under test in line with the various graduations and verify
that the generator (Gl) indicates the values given in Table 1, keeping to the specified
tolerances.

In the course of this test, the operator must ascertain that the signal is a sine wave, using the os-
cilloscope.
- Set the throw-over switch (Sl) to position “2” to test the pointer “2”.
Then :
- Using the signal generator (Gl), adjusted for a voltage output of 5.2 V rms, bring pointer
“2” of the indicator under test in line with the various graduations and verify that the ge-
nerator (Gl) indicates the values given in table 1, keeping to the specified tolerances.
In the course of this test, the operator must ascertain that the signal is a sine wave, using the
oscilloscope.
- Using the signal generator (Gl), align pointer with the “300” scale mark.
- Adjust the signal generator (Gl) to align the pointer with the “300” scale mark,

- Adjust the signal generator (Gl) to again align the pointer with the “300” scale mark.
- Follow the same procedure with respect to pointer “2” that was followed for pointer
“1” above.
- Vary the signal generator (Gl) frequency in such a way that the pointers travel fully
around the dial at a constant speed defined as follows :
- the sweeping duration At between the 100 rpm and 400 rpm marks is equal to
12sk2s.
In the course of this test, the operator should ascertain that the signal is a sine wave,
using the oscilloscope.
C. NR Test
(I ) Operational test
- Using the signal generator (G2), ajusted for 5.2 V rms, align the center pointer “NR”
of the indicator under test with the various scale marks and check that the generator
values fall within the tolerances indicated in table 2.
In the course of this check, the operator should ascertain that the signal is a sine wave,
using the oscilloscope.

INTRODUCTION
1 - GENERAL
The Illustrated Parts List (IPL) is prepared in compliance with ATA 100. The IPL is intended
to identify ail the components of the unit.
- Introduction,
The Detailed Parts List includes the nomenclature and illustrations of the unit components.
- 5th column Units per Assy. - Quantity per next higher assembly.
The figure number, covering items listed, is indicated on the first line at the top of each page.
Each part-numbered assembly, sub-assembly or item listed in the parts list is assigned an item
number followed by a letter identifying the variant. The basic variant is lettered A.
Assemblies, sub-assemblies and parts listed, but not illustrated, are identified by a dash (-)
preceding the corresponding item numbers.
A “lettered index” appearing before the item number is a cross reference to the illustration
of the variant called out from the corresponding main figure.

Each of the assemblies, sub-assemblies and detail parts, illustrated or not, is assigned a manu-
facturer’s part number.
When the manufacturer’s actual part number exceeds 15 characters, an equivalent assigned
part number is listed in the “Part Number” column preceded by the following annotation :
Both part numbers are listed in the Alphanumeric Index in their logical order ; the actual
overlength part number is cross-referenced to the assigned part number preceded by the anno-
tation : “SEE . , , ” .
C. Nomenclature
The nomenclature is indented to show the relationship between the parts listed, as follows :
12 3 4 5 6 7
Assembly
. Detail parts for assembly
. Sub-assembly
. Attaching parts and/or storage parts for sub-assembly
* * *
A vendor code is indicated for all items or articles not made by the prime manufacturer
of the assembly.
This vendor code or the abbreviation “NP” (non procurable) is placed at the extreme right-
hand side of the 1st line of the nomenclature.
An alphanumeric usage code indicates the applicability of sub-assemblies and detail parts to
the next higher assembly (ies) or sub-assembly (ies).
When the applicability is general, the usage code column is left blank.
The usage code corresponds to the figure/item number of the next higher assembly (ies) or
sub-assembly (ies) . e.g. , effectivity 1 A, 1 B, 1C is written IABC.
