2 main uses:
1) We use the simple present tense when an action is happening right now
a. We study English.
b. I feel happy today.
c. She is hungry, she wants a hamburguer.
2) when it happens regularly (or unceasingly)
a. I live in Mérida.
b. She likes apples.
c. Joe plays videogames everyday after school.
Structure:
Subject + verb (root way) + complement.
*if the subject is he/she/it (el/ella/eso) there are some rules:
1. Almost all verbs: + s
wite- writes/ walk-walks / talk-talks/ listen- listens/ play-plays
2. Verbs ending with o, ch, sh, th, ss, gh, or z: +es
go-goes/ do-does/ teach-teaches / wish-wishes
Verb to be – Simple present: (ser/estar)
I – am He/She/it – is You/we/they – are
I am at school. Susan is happy. We are in the classroom.
Negatives with verb to be –
am – am not I am not at home right now.
is – isn’t Her mom is not happy with her grades/ She isn’t here.
are – aren’t We are not at the beach. They aren’t happy with the results.
Do you want potatoes? Do we need something else? Do they play at the park?
Does she eat meat? Does you mom cook cakes? Does your dog bite?

Usos:
▪ Para expresar hábitos y rutinas, hechos generales, acciones repetidas o situaciones, emociones y
deseos permanentes:
I smoke (hábito); I work in London (permanencia); London is a large city (hecho general)
▪ Para dar instrucciones o indicaciones:
You walk for two hundred meters, then you turn left.
▪ Para hablar de eventos programados, presentes o futuros:
Your exam starts at 09.00.
▪ Para referirse al futuro, detrás de algunas conjunciones: after, when, before, as soon as, until:
He'll give it to you when you come next Saturday
