11. What is programming language? Explain its types with advantages and
disadvantages.
12. a) What is computer network? Explain different types of network
topologies.
b) What is spreadsheet software? How does MS-excel help in decision
making process?
13. Write the uses of mail merge. Write the steps to perform mail merge on

14. Draw the architectural diagram of computer system and explain all the

15. A Microsoft Excel sheet contains Students Roll, Name and Marks
in five subjects in columns A, B, C, D, E, F and G respectively.
(Row 1 contains heading row and actual data start from row 2 and
onward).
Using "IF" and "AND" operators, write the syntax to display "PASS" or
"FALL" in H column (Assumed pass marks is 45 in each subject).

The scope of IT has been increased tremendously. Like all other fields,
the insurance sector has also set the infrastructure of technology to
facilitate their day to day operations. Companies can set up not only
paperless administration but people less branches that would handle the
entire insurance operation. Insurance businesses are now looking
forward to new and varied concepts in technology that gives a marked
advantage to software companies. Many insurance agencies using
technology to expand their business operations and increase the
efficiency have also shown a remarkable business growth. Let us first
understand how technology helps insurance companies towards their
“Paperless" is synonymous with digital imaging. It involves scanning
and storage of pages and photos, and integrates them into a computer
filing system. Once the domain of rich big corporations, digital imaging
today has found place with small firms as well. If you have got the
chance to visit some traditional paper based insurance companies their
basement contained rows of filing cabinets. Not only did they have to
store the years' of paperwork but also have access to them when
situation demanded. So companies are decided to search for electronic
alternatives. They found their solution. They have started to use on-line
system today, the company has one scanner station, that works on new

files and their old back files, the hard copies are scanned and indexed
into the electronic file where it combines with the documents generated
by the software. Simultaneously, they can also email and fax and all
desktops have access to the generated files, thus searching becomes
almost nil. Generally, a paperless office consists of setting up and
installing scanners to handle paper documents, receiving areas where
incoming mail is stamped, logged, counted and attached with a bar
code.
a) What types of hardware and software system are applicable for the
situation highlighted in case?
b) What types of network topology system you will suggest in such
situation.
c) Define paperless system with reference to the case.
d) Is it possible applying the above situation in Nepalese Insurance
Sector? What are the possible hurdles for the implementation of
