After the concrete has been properly placed,

struck off, bull-floated or darbied, floating can
take place. The purpose of floating is three
fold. Floating embeds large aggregates just
beneath the surface, it removes slight
imperfections creating a level plane, and
consolidates mortar near the top of the slab.

An Overview of EDCO Surface-Preparation Equipment

When resurfacing horizontal concrete, the first steps in the process are the most critical. For long-lasting results, the underlying concrete
must be properly prepared so finishing products like coatings and overlays can bond correctly.

EDCO offers complete lines of surface preparation and professional sawing equipment for all steps of resurfacing jobs. EDCO equipment
can: remove, restore, and polish concrete; take up floor coverings like linoleum, ceramic, carpet, and vinyl; remove coatings like epoxy,
urethane, paint, waterproofing membrane, and tile adhesive.

Knowledge of the application and asking the job site qualifying questions (page 7) helps determine which EDCO products are best for the
job. Be aware that jobsite conditions will effect production rates and overall work. The best way to estimate the application’s scope is
performing a test run with the equipment and tooling recommended by EDCO.

G R I N D E R S Grinders use horizontally rotating discs to smooth, clean, and level the top surface of concrete
slabs. An EDCO Grinder can be loaded with various tooling that Strip, Grind and Remove. These MAGNA-TRAP®
tools perform surface applications including coatings removal, smoothing floors, and leveling uneven surfaces.
MAGNA-TRAP® Floor Grinders and Turbo Grinders can remove up to 1/32 – 1/16 inch of concrete per pass.
Grinders provide smoother finishes than Crete-PlanersTM and Crete-CrushersTM.

CRETE-PL ANERSTM Planing machines use rotating cutting drums to remove, texture, and clean both concrete
and asphalt. EDCO Crete-PlanersTM feature precise depth controls and various styles of interchangeable cutter
assemblies that are used for many applications. Production rates range from 350 – 1,500 sqft per hour at an 1/8
inch removal per pass. Crete-PlanersTM, also referred to as milling machines, are more aggressive than Grinders
and less aggressive than Crete-CrushersTM.

CRETE-CRUSHERSTM Crete-CrushersTM use compressed air to hammer piston-mounted bits into concrete
surfaces, completing drastic removal jobs like creating wheelchair access ramps. Depending on floor strength,
EDCO Crete-CrushersTM can remove up to 1/8 – 1/4 inch of concrete per pass. Creates rough surfaces and are
more aggressive than Crete-PlanersTM.

F L O O R S T R I P P E R S Includes EDCO TileSharks and Chisel Scalers - Floor Strippers remove floor coverings
from concrete and wood surface materials. Examples include vinyl, carpeting, hardwood, rubber flooring and
ceramic. Chisel Scalers use rapid hammering action with various accessories to remove tile, grout, roofing shingles,
hardened deposits, concrete, asphalt, ice, and more.

WITHSTAND THE RIGORS OF EVERYDAY USE

asphalt with little to no vibration because of their heavy-gauge steel frames, rugged shafts and bearing assemblies.

• Precision machined arbor shafts • Multiple-belt power transfer system

• Superior rigidity for smooth, clean, straight cuts • Heavy-Duty 7-gauge steel construction
• Large screw-type depth control locks for consistent cutting depth

CONCRETE AND ASPHALT SAWS FOR ANY JOB!

Box-frame construction keeps blade tracking straight for improved cutting speeds and longer blade life.

Heavy-Duty 7-Gauge
Steel Undercarriage Withstands Job Site Abuse!
EDCO designs and builds saws from the ground up to provide reliable performance, straight cutting and
long life.

Raw steel arrives at EDCO daily and goes through our lean manufacturing processes within EDCO’s state-
of-the-art, quality-controlled facility. We use heavy-gauge steel frames on all walk behind saws which
prevents vibration, so blades cut fast, straight & smooth.

Arbor shafts are CNC machined to fit their bearings exactly, rotate smoothly, eliminate vibration and
increase blade life.

EDCO saws have the power source weight positioned over the blade keeping it in the cut. Some models,
have optional up-cut blade rotation for consistent depth and cleaner cuts.

With minimal maintenance, EDCO Saws continue to cut faster and straighter than competing models —
extending blade life, getting jobs completed faster and increasing your profits!

QUALIFYING QUESTIONS
THESE NINE QUESTONS ARE IMPORTANT TO ASK

HERE ARE SOME JOB SITE QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:

1. Job site location? 6. What type of blade will be used diamond or abrasive?
2. Why is the cutting being done? 7. How much time is available for cutting?
3. What is the material being cut? (When must the job be completed)?
Concrete, Asphalt, Brick Block, Paver, Tile? 8. Is dust control a factor?
4. What is the required depth of cut? Width of cut? (Can water be used?)
5. How many lineal feet or pieces (brick/block) 9. What source of power is desired?
will be cut? (Gasoline, electric, other?)
