Asgl Poster Explanation
leadership. It is defined by Dungy (2015) as all about shaping, nurturing, empowering, and growing. It is
all about relationships, integrity, and perpetual learning—these results in changed lives, strong
character, and eternal values that bridge to success. In line with this, a mentor leader is the one who is
instilling the mentor leadership, as mentioned earlier. It is a kind of leader who is experienced and
willingly trains and advises others. But other than this, it inspires, motivates, empowers, leads, and
builds relationships with people to accomplish organizational goals. To understand more about mentor
leader, there is a need to know about the mandate, mindset, and maturity of a mentor leader.
The Mandate of Mentor Leader pointed out the focus on significance. It conveys that the
relationships are ultimately what matter – our relationships with God and with other people.
Also, it tells about learning how to put other people first. Rather than questioning, “How can I
lead my team to their level of success” we should be asking ourselves, “How do others be
flourished as a result of my leadership.” It boils down to its core principles: influence,
involvement, improvement, and impact of a mentor leadership.
The Mindset of Mentor Leader should not focus on himself/herself. It is not about what makes
the leader comfortable or helps him, or her get ahead. But it is about other people within the
organization or team or about them whom he leads. It is about how they could make people
develop, learn, and grow.
The Maturity of a Mentor leader indicates the importance of taking a look inside of oneself. The
ability to take an honest look at ourselves and examine who we are in the manifestation of
some mark of maturity for a mentor leader.
With these being said, it justifies its significance not only for me as one of the students in the ASGL class
but also for those aspiring to become a leader. These give enlightenment, wisdom, and guides them on
how to become effective ones.
On the other side of the story, the formative poster being presented encapsulates the most remarkable
lesson I have learned throughout my ASGL class. Back then, I am not familiar with the concept of mentor
leader; and I admit it is my first hearing about it. But because of this class, I can get knowledge about it
and use it in my academics and everyday life. For instance, I am giving more significance to relationships
with God and other people. Having a harmonious relationship with them would lead us to have a
harmonious and successful life.
