What is TF-CBT?

Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for


children who have experienced sexual abuse or other serious traumatic events. It was developed
and tested by Drs. Esther Deblinger, Judy Cohen, and Anthony Mannarino, and has been found
in multiple research studies to be an effective treatment for children with trauma-related problems
and their families.

What is TF-CBTWeb? TF-CBTWeb offers:

Who is TF-CBTWeb designed for?

TF-CBTWeb was developed for busy mental health professionals who want to learn the best
evidence-based treatments, but who need a flexible, cost-effective, and convenient way of
learning on their own schedule. The web-based format allows you to learn when it’s best for you,
at home or at work, and you can refresh your knowledge whenever you want.

How will I learn from TF-CBTWeb?

Each of the TF-CBTWeb components teaches a specific procedure, explains the technique in a
concise manner, provides streaming video demonstrations of the procedure, includes printable
scripts that can be used in treatment, has homework suggestions, discusses cultural
considerations when using the technique, and describes common clinical challenges you might
encounter. Material is presented in a concise format designed for busy professionals.
Can I get Continuing Education credit by taking TF-CBTWeb?

Yes you can. Professionals who complete the full TF-CBTWeb course receive a Certificate of
Completion for 10 continuing education contact hours from the Medical University of South
Carolina. MUSC is an approved provider of continuing education for all mental health
professions.

TF-CBTWeb is compatible with both PC and MacIntosh computers, and with most major web

connection and Windows Media Player are required to view the streaming video demonstrations.

Who developed TF-CBTWeb?

TF-CBTWeb was developed and is maintained by the faculty and staff of the National Crime
Victims Research and Treatment Center at the Medical University of South Carolina, in
cooperation with the developers of TF-CBT at the New Jersey Child Abuse Research Education
and Service (CARES) Institute, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – School of
Osteopathic Medicine, and the Center for Traumatic Stress in Children and Adolescents,
Allegheny General Hospital.
