Introduction

is the art of applying design, aesthetics and

natural beauty to clothing and its accessories.
It is influenced by cultural and social attitudes,
and has varied over time and place. Fashion
designers work in a number of ways in
designing clothing and accessories such as
bracelets and necklaces. Because of the time
required to bring a garment onto the market,
designers must at times anticipate changes to
consumer tastes.

Designers conduct research on fashion trends

and interpret them for their audience. Their
specific designs are used by manufacturers.
This is the essence of a designer’s role;
however, there is variation within this that is
determined by the buying and merchandising
approach, and product quality; for example,
budget retailers will use inexpensive fabrics to
interpret trends, but high-end retailers will
ensure that the best available fabrics are used.
History of fashion
Fashion design is generally considered to have
started in the 19th century with Charles Frederick
Worth who was the first designer to have his label
sewn into the garments that he created. Before the
former draper set up his maison couture (fashion
house) in Paris, clothing design and creation was
handled by largely anonymous seamstresses, and
high fashion descended from that worn at royal
courts. Worth's success was such that he was able to
dictate to his customers what they should wear,
instead of following their lead as earlier dressmakers
had done. The term couturier was in fact first created
in order to describe him. While all articles of clothing
from any time period are studied by academics as
costume design, only clothing created after 1858 is
considered as fashion design.
Types of Fashion

although these may be split up into additional, more
specific categories:

World History of fashion design

The history of fashion design refers to the development of the fashion

industry which designs clothing and accessories. The modern industry,
based around firms or fashion houses run by individual designers, started
in the 19th century with Charles Frederick Worth who from 1858 was the
first designer to have his label sewn into the garments that he created.
Before the mid-19th century the division between haute couture and
ready-to-wear did not really exist. All but the most basic major pieces of
female clothing was made-to-measure by dressmakers and seamstresses
dealing directly with the client, and fitting to her shape. Hats, gloves and
similar accessories were mostly made ready to wear and sold in shops as
now. Tailors worked with men in the same way.

The design of these clothes became increasing based on printed designs,

especially from Paris, which were circulated around Europe, and eagerly
anticipated in the provinces. Seamstresses would then interpret these
patterns as best they could. The origin of the designs was the clothes
devised by the most fashionable figures, normally those at court, in the
capital, together with their seamstresses and tailors. Though there had
been distribution of dressed dolls from France since the 16th century and
Abraham Boss had produced engravings of fashion in the 1620s, the pace
of change picked up in the 1780s with increased publication of French
engravings illustrating the latest Paris styles. By 1800, all Western
Europeans were dressing alike (or thought they were); local variation
became first a sign of provincial culture and later a badge of the
conservative peasant.[2]

Around the start of the 20th century fashion magazines began to include
photographs and became even more influential. Throughout the world
these magazines were greatly sought-after and had a profound effect on
public taste. Talented illustrators - among them Paul Iribe, Georges Lepape,
Erté, and George Barbier - drew attractive fashion plates for these
publications, which covered the most recent developments in fashion and
beauty. Perhaps the most famous of these magazines was La Gazette du
Bon Ton which was founded in 1912 by Lucien Vogel and regularly
published until 1925
Tommy Hilfiger, formerly known as Tommy Hilfiger Corporation and

May 2010, PVH Corp. (NYSE: PVH) (then known as Philips van
Heusen) bought the company.[6] Daniel Grieder was appointed CEO
in July 2014, while founder Tommy Hilfiger remains the company’s
principal designer, leading the design teams and overseeing the
entire creative process.[2] Global sales in retail through the brand in
2013 were US $6.4 billion,[2] and $6.7 billion in 2014.

Hugo Boss AG, often styled as BOSS, is a German luxury fashion

house headquartered in Metzingen. It was founded in 1924 by Hugo
Boss and originally produced general purpose clothing. With the rise
of the Nazi Party in the 1930s, Boss began to produce and sell Nazi
uniforms. Boss would eventually supply the wartime German
government with uniforms for organizations such as the Hitler Youth
and Waffen-SS, resulting in a large boost in sales. After World War II
and the founder's death in 1948, Hugo Boss started to turn its focus
from uniforms to men's suits. The company went public in 1988 and
introduced a fragrance line that same year, added mens and
womenswear diffusion lines in 1997, a full women's collection in
2000 as well as children's clothing in 2006/2007, and has since
evolved into a major global fashion house. As of 2016 it owned more
than 1,100 retail stores worldwide.
CATS EYE In 1980, CATS EYE began their journey in the form of a
small shop in Green Super Market that sold all most everything
from candies to ornaments.
The founders, Mr. Sayeed Siddiqui Rumi and Mrs. Ashrafun Siddiqui
Dora, had kept a small part of that shop for shirts that they
designed by themselves. They got a good response from the
enthusiastic young men of Dhaka. Therefore, Mrs. Ashrafun
Siddiqui decided that they would only sell designer clothes for men.
In 1983, the couple rented a floor space in Mansur Bhaban,
Elephant Road. That was the official inception of CATS EYE. Until
1993, there was a vacuum in the men’s fashion market for a
clothing line for the executives. Thus, CATS EYE introduced a new
line of products under the new brand name MONSOON RAIN as a
sister concern of Cats Eye.
In 1998, Cats Eye launched another brand of Men's Wear under the
name CATS EYE Unlimited, to satisfy the stylish men’s casual wear
segment. Recently CATS EYE introduced Ladies wear, shoes and
silver jewelry.
