When one works to improve the lives of others, he brings a whole new dimension
of meaning to his personal life. The values of sharing and giving to others are essential
facets all human beings must incorporate in their lives. Some even find true happiness
and satisfaction if they can be able to share something to others.
These values are exemplified by our foundress, Mother Ignacia Del Espiritu
Santo who was during the entirety of her existence, dedicated herself towards the
achievement of serving the people of God despite any circumstance she and her
congregation had experienced. As stated in historical accounts of Mother Ignacia, she
left home and brought with her only a needle and a pair of scissors. But with her is the
enormous faith in God that brought comfort and cheer, even in the midst of stress and
crushing difficulties.
Mother Ignacia showed her love for Jesus by serving others. She taught her
companions to do all things “out of love for Jesus.” With deep humility and full trust in
God's loving Providence, coupled with their ingenuity and the resourcefulness of God's
poor, they survived the challenges of life. In all these difficulties Mother Ignacia exhorted
her companions to bear with constancy and make penance to move God to have mercy
on them. Moreover, she relentlessly pursued what was right and just and taught her
companions to persevere in their commitment to God and to the people.
In the end, let us all be enlightened with the life of Mother Ignacia which I
personally consider as being worthy of emulation. She was a true and authentic valiant
woman who overcame the great difficulties which she met from the beginning to the
end.
