WEEK 1 MONDAY
I. OBJECTIVE/S At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. describe and explain the effects of force on the shape of an object;
b. identify the different ways of changing shape of an object when force is applied; and
c. show appreciation in using force in doing the right thing.

A. Content Standards The learners should explain the force that can change the shape, size or movement of objects

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Introduction ELICIT
The learners will guess the word in the jumbled letters presented to recall the learning they had in the previous lesson. These
mainly focused on the effects of interactions among organism in their environment. (Using a raffle draw in calling the learner to
answer)
1. MATLMUISU
2. CLMISOMAMENS
3. PSRISATIAM
4. PAETNRIOD
5. CTIIOONMPET

ENGAGE
What I need to know?
The learners will look at the following pictures and identify whether the action exerted is PULL or PUSH.

What’s new?
The learners will have to do it and learn that leads to know the terms for this lesson. Afterwards, they will answer the
guided questions.
Explore More on the Object!
 Have you ever seen a paper? Different types of paper?
 Can you do something to change this paper?
 Observe what happens to the materials when force is applied.
 Record what you have observed.
Guided Questions:
 Can you describe what happened to the paper?
 What changes did you observed?
 Why did it change?
 How can this thing happen?
*Force simply means push and pull of an object.
EXPLORE
What I know?
The learners will have their own/group experiment. Then, prepare the materials needed (or teacher may provide). Be guided
accordingly with the materials and what to do in this activity. Then, copy and answer the table and questions follow at the
bottom. (Rubric is applied)
Experiment Time! What are the Effects of Force on the Shape of an Object?
Materials:
 sponge
 modeling clay
 chocolate bar
 calamansi
 foil paper
 bottle cap
 eggshell
 rolling pin
 hammer
 fork and spoon
B. Development
What To do:
1. Observe each of the solid materials given in Column A.
2. Change the shape of the materials found in Column A by applying force on it.
3. Fill out Column B with what you did to change the shape of the materials. You can write as many as you can.
4. Fill out Column C with changes that took place after you have applied force on the materials.

Objects What I did to change What changes took place

(A) the shape of the after I have applied force
materials? on the materials?
(B) (C)
Sponge
Modelling clay
Chocolate bar
Calamansi
Foil paper
Bottle cap
Eggshell

Guide Questions:
1. What are the common ways you did to change the shape of the objects? For each way, what did you use?
2. Listed below are also other ways to change the shape of objects. What do you think will happen to an object if you
will…?
a) pound
b) bend
c) stretch
d) crumple
e) press
3. From what you have experienced, what is the effect of force to an object? Why and how?

EXPLAIN
What’s in?
The learners will have the moment of viewing that leads to learning deeper of the lesson. Then, they will answer the few
questions.
Key Points:
 A force is a push or pull, which occurs when two or more objects interact with each other.
 The shape of an object may change when force is applied to.
 Pushing, pulling, pounding, compressing, bending, twisting, tearing, stretching, or squeezing are some ways of
changing the shape of an object. (Show samples)

Guided Questions:
1. What is push or pull of an object?
2. Why does shape change when force is applied?
3. What is the effect of force happened to change the shape of an object?
C. Engagement ELABORATE
What’s more?
The learners will look at the loop a word and identify what are the ways in changing shape of an object. Color or encircle the
word that you find that can appear vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. (May use the educandy (enter the code) to answer this
online while others who cannot have access can copy on a bond paper)

The learners will do or act the effects of force to change the shape an object by getting on the bowl of egg. After choosing, the
learner will open it and see what is written on it.
Acting Like Famous
1. Pressing the clay
2. Twisting the towel
3. Bending the ruler
4. Pulling the rubber
5. Pounding the cracker

The learners will watch and realize the importance of knowing the facts. Then, they will answer the questions follow.
(Note: You should watch video on the attached links above)
Let’s Ponder at the Moment!
Watch a video for information purposes.

Guide Questions:
1. What is the video mainly about?
2. What happened when force is applied to an object?
3. What are the different ways to change the shape of an object?
4. How does it happen?

What I can do?

The learners will make or continue the story as much as they can and share insights about the scenario.
Valuing Time!
Directions: Listen or read silently the scenario then answer the questions concisely.
Nene was so early going to school. She noticed that the doors are still closed or locked. She looked around and found no
one. Suddenly, she saw a stone near the door and think of opening the door using it.
1. What do you think is Nene will do? Is it right or not? Why?
2. Is she will use force if that is the case in opening the door? How?
3. What can you suggest if you see Nene on that moment?
4. How can you help Nene in the situation she’s in? Explain.
