Humanities, those branches of knowledge that concern themselves with human

beings and their culture or with analytic and critical methods of inquiry derived from an
appreciation of human values and of the unique ability of the human spirit to express
itself. The humanities include the study of all languages and literatures, the arts, history,
and philosophy.

The field of humanities is involved in the study of the human condition. It uses qualitative
methods that are primarily analytical, critical, or speculative, in contrast with the empirical
approaches of the natural sciences.

Humanities is also the study of different cultural aspects – it analyses the flaws in
humankind and how it can be improved. These cultural aspects includes speech,
knowledge, beliefs, arts, technologies, ideals, and rules. With a focus on these aspects,
it examines and prescribes the type of behaviour considered appropriate to an individual
in his or her efforts to achieve the status of being a cultured human being. A cultured
person is often thought to be refined and well versed in the arts, philosophy, and the
languages.

Through the arts such as painting, sculpture, architecture, music, dance, literature,
theatre, and cinema, the study of humanities also investigates fundamental human
activities, sentiments, aspirations and opinions.

Art is a highly diverse range of human activities engaged in creating visual, auditory, or
performed artifacts— artworks—that express the author’s imaginative or technical skill,
and are intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power.
Art, also called (to distinguish it from other art forms) visual art, a visual object or
experience consciously created through an expression of skill or imagination. The term
art encompasses diverse media such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing,
decorative arts, photography, and installation.
The arts is defined as the “theory and physical expression of creativity found in human
societies and cultures”. Being involved in artworks of any kind helps a person express his
creativity. Arts has its major constituents. It includes literature, performing arts, and visual
arts.
there are traditional subdivision of arts. One of them is Architecture. It is defined as “both
the process and the product of planning, designing, and constructing buildings or any
other structures”. A professional architect can show his artistic talent through this.
Next to architecture is Sculpture. It refers to “the branch of the visual arts that operates in
three dimensions”. Also, it is defined as one of the plastic arts. There are necessary
processes being applied when creating a sculpture and these processes are carving and
modelling. The materials that are usually being used to make one sculpture are stone,
metal, ceramics, and wood as well as other necessary materials. Painting too is one of
the traditional subdivision of arts. The final work is also called painting.
The materials being used in painting are brush, sponges, knives, airbrushes, paints of
various colors, canvas, and many others. It is defined as the “practice of applying paint,
pigment, color, or other medium to a solid surface”. Throughout the world, millions of
paintings are displayed in museums and art galleries. Literature is also included since it
has an artistic or intellectual value. The elements of music has made Music one of the art
forms. Performing Arts and Film too are among the traditional subdivision of arts.

Architecture (Latin architectura, from the Greek ἀρχιτέκτων arkhitekton "architect", from
ἀρχι- "chief" and τέκτων "creator") is both the process and the product of planning,
designing, and constructing buildings or other structures.[3] Architectural works, in the
material form of buildings, are often perceived as cultural symbols and as works of art.
Historical civilizations are often identified with their surviving architectural achievements.
Sculpture is the branch of the visual arts that operates in three dimensions. It is one of
the plastic arts. Durable sculptural processes originally used carving (the removal of
material) and modelling (the addition of material, as clay), in stone, metal, ceramics, wood
and other materials but, since Modernism, there has been an almost complete freedom
of materials and process. A wide variety of materials may be worked by removal such as
carving, assembled by welding or modelling, or moulded or cast.
Painting is the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a solid
surface (called the "matrix" or "support").[1] The medium is commonly applied to the base
with a brush, but other implements, such as knives, sponges, and airbrushes, can be
used.
Literature broadly is any collection of written work, but it is also used more narrowly for
writings specifically considered to be an art form, especially prose fiction, drama, and
poetry.[1] In recent centuries, the definition has expanded to include oral literature, much
of which has been transcribed.[2] Literature is a method of recording, preserving, and
transmitting knowledge and entertainment.
Music is an art form, and a cultural activity, whose medium is sound. General definitions
of music include common elements such as pitch (which governs melody and harmony),
rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness
and softness), and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed
the "color" of a musical sound). Different styles or types of music may emphasize, de-
emphasize or omit some of these elements. Music is performed with a vast range of
instruments and vocal techniques ranging from singing to rapping; there are solely
instrumental pieces, solely vocal pieces (such as songs without instrumental
accompaniment) and pieces that combine singing and instruments. The word derives
from Greek μουσική (mousike; "art of the Muses").[1] See glossary of musical
terminology.
Performing arts refers to forms of art in which artists use their voices, bodies or
inanimate objects to convey artistic expression. It is different from visual arts, which is
when artists use paint, canvas or various materials to create physical or static art objects.
Performing arts include a range of disciplines which are performed in front of a live
audience, inducing theatre, music, and dance.
A film, also called a movie, motion picture or moving picture, is a work of visual art used
to simulate experiences that communicate ideas, stories, perceptions, feelings, beauty,
or atmosphere through the use of moving images. These images are generally
accompanied by sound, and more rarely, other sensory stimulations.[1] The word
"cinema", short for cinematography, is often used to refer to filmmaking and the film
industry, and to the art form that is the result of it.
