    As the Duterte administration continues to butcher the country numerous times, it

    seems like the Filipinos have had enough of the blatant lies and manipulation of the
    incompetent president.

    President Rodrigo Duterte, on September 08, formally accepted his party's


    nomination (Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban)) to run for vice
    president in the upcoming Philippine Election 2022 driven by his patriotism and for
    "immunity against lawsuits once he steps down." Although this political change brought
    cheers for his faction and supporters, being the first president to pull a stunt in Philippine
    history, most Filipinos are unconvinced and now taking a stand against this tomfoolery.
    Filipinos won't be deceived twice as many are enraged and unwilling to forget
    the events during his reign, including extrajudicial killings, anti-terrorism law,
    politicking, red-tagging, and failing to protect our sovereign territory. Furthermore, the
    pandemic mismanagement, missing funds from the Department of Health (DOH),
    attacking the Commission on Audit (COA), and up to using his weekly meetings to talk
    about his political plans instead of addressing the Covid-19 pandemic. Hence, posts
    about voting wisely for the following year's elections and criticisms against the
    government are circulating on social media. Moreover, activists are initiating rallies
    calling out the social injustices by the government – suggesting that Filipinos would not
    hand their freedom and demanding the tyrant to step down.

    If there is one good thing that happened from the administration's pandemic
    mismanagement, it would be the strengthening of the Bayanihan culture. Since aid from
    the government is scarce, community pantries, donations, and offered assistance
    conducted by good-hearted Filipinos across the country helped the poor survive these
    trying times. In addition, health workers, farmers, and Filipinos risking their lives are
    appreciated and supported by the masses.

    Freedom is vital in a democratic country. Suppose the Filipinos fail to realize and
    continue to be passive, nondemanding of a dignified life, and complacently follow a
    dictator, then freedom will become a paper concept without real flesh and bones.
