I. PROJECT TITLE
PROJECT 555

II. PROBLEM DEFINITION & BACKGROUND (Needs Assessment)

The curriculum is the heart of the educational system. K to 12 curriculum aims
to develop literacy among learners. It also provides learners with repertoire of
competencies. These competencies are aligning with the goal of education to create
and produce productive and globally competitive members of the society.
Moreover every subjects included in the educational system has its own target
competencies for every grade level. These competencies are presented with
increasingly levels of complexity from one grade level to another in spiral
progression. Also, these are divided into four (4) quarters. As a teacher, she/he
needs to teach and impart these competencies to his/her pupils. To monitor whether
the learners acquire the necessary competencies, teachers administer the quarterly
examinations. From the quarterly examination, item analysis is conducted to know
the mastery level of the learners.
Pagbilao West Elem. School has been very concern with the learning of the
pupils. The quarterly result were been analyzed by the teachers in all grade level.
They did the item and score analysis. The ENCIMAFILAP (English, Science, Math,
Filipino and Araling Panlipunan) result was given importance. In 3 consecutive years
(S.Y 2015-2016, SY. 206-2017 & S.Y. 2017-2018), the school’s mastery level or the
MPS result in ENCIMAFILAP was 68.56%. It does not meet the 75% passing
standard.
In S.Y. 2015-2016, the MPS result of the grade six in ENCIMAFILAP was
72.73%, in S.Y. 2016-2017, MPS result was 76.80% and 56.14% in S.Y. 2017-2018.
Based form the MPS result, it showed that the competencies needed for grade 6
were not mastered. So, the school adapted the PROJECT 555. It was a project
implemented in other division, the school principal together with the grade six
teachers conducted meeting for the implementation process. It was month of
November when PROJECT 555 was implemented in grade six. It will end on the
