Why CPIM Certification?

APICS, the Association for Operations Management, is respected throughout the world for its education and certification
programs in production and inventory control, operations, supply chain management and integrated resource management.
APICS offers 2 internationally recognised certificates: CPIM & CSCP.

The Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) program was developed by APICS in 1973 to provide a com-
mon basis for individuals to assess their knowledge in the field of production and inventory management. The program offers
in depth education on tools, terminology and techniques for production, inventory and supply chain management.

The CPIM designation is a highly regarded industry certification that demonstrates your initiative to excel and your com-
mitment to acquire the most current industry knowledge and skills. It will help you to enhance your on-the-job performance,
that’s why so many employers consider it as a desired qualification for new hires. More than 83 000 professionals have
become certified worldwide, including more than 900 in Belgium.

The CPIM education focuses on professionals in manufacturing and service industries and is essential for you if you are
involved in:

The APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) certification

is known around the world as the standard for Excellence in Production and Inventory Control!

Get to know the CPIM program

The focus and value of CPIM certification is on expanding your knowledge and furthering your professional growth – not
solely on passing certification exams. The most important component of the CPIM certification is the learning experience that
occurs while preparing for examinations.

The CPIM program consists of 5 modules:

> Basics of Supply Chain Management (BSCM)

> Master Planning of Resources (MPR)
> Detailed Scheduling and Planning (DSP)
> Execution and Control of Operations (ECO)
> Strategic Management of Resources (SMR)

In this brochure you will find a detailed description on the CPIM program, study material, courses and certification process.

CIM_CIL regularly organizes CPIM information sessions to allow candidates to get to know the CPIM program. It is a unique
opportunity to get personal assistance from our professional staff. You can browse the study material and take a test exam.
Visit the CIM_CIL homepage for more information on the latest info sessions.

The CIM_CIL website is continually updated to make sure you get the latest info on exam dates, recommended books and
course schedules.

To ensure that you receive a personal notification as soon as new information becomes available: add your email address to
our CPIM-mailing list on www.cimcil.be.

CPIM self study material

APICS offers a variety of resources to help you prepare for the exams.

> The CPIM Exam Content Manual is a must have for all candidates. Module by module it outlines
the curriculum, so you know what subject matter to study. It lists key terminology and suggests a
bibliography of primary and additional references. It contains test-taking advice, scoring information.

> The APICS Dictionary is the standard for defining terms used in the operations management field.
It’s a unique reference tool for resource management professionals. This practical dictionary is also
available with French translation.

> The five Practice Questions Booklets (1 for each CPIM module) include each 60 questions with
answers and a list of references for study. The questions have been retired from previous examinations.
It helps to familiarize yourself with the types of questions encountered in an actual APICS certification
examination. The ideal tool to take a test exam.

Self-study candidates should consult the reference books, to develop the knowledge base necessary to attain the CPIM certifi-
cation. These books are mentioned in the CPIM Exam Content Manual. For a more detailed description of these books, visit the
CIM_CIL bookshop on www.cimcil.be. Top books on the APICS primary reference list are usually available from stock.
