Why CPIM Certification?
APICS, the Association for Operations Management, is respected throughout the world for its education and certification
programs in production and inventory control, operations, supply chain management and integrated resource management.
APICS offers 2 internationally recognised certificates: CPIM & CSCP.
The Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) program was developed by APICS in 1973 to provide a com-
mon basis for individuals to assess their knowledge in the field of production and inventory management. The program offers
in depth education on tools, terminology and techniques for production, inventory and supply chain management.
The CPIM designation is a highly regarded industry certification that demonstrates your initiative to excel and your com-
mitment to acquire the most current industry knowledge and skills. It will help you to enhance your on-the-job performance,
that’s why so many employers consider it as a desired qualification for new hires. More than 83 000 professionals have
become certified worldwide, including more than 900 in Belgium.
The CPIM education focuses on professionals in manufacturing and service industries and is essential for you if you are
involved in:
> Operations
> Production & Inventory Management
> Supply Chain Management
> Procurement
> Materials Management
> Purchasing
The focus and value of CPIM certification is on expanding your knowledge and furthering your professional growth – not
solely on passing certification exams. The most important component of the CPIM certification is the learning experience that
occurs while preparing for examinations.
In this brochure you will find a detailed description on the CPIM program, study material, courses and certification process.
CIM_CIL regularly organizes CPIM information sessions to allow candidates to get to know the CPIM program. It is a unique
opportunity to get personal assistance from our professional staff. You can browse the study material and take a test exam.
Visit the CIM_CIL homepage for more information on the latest info sessions.
The CIM_CIL website is continually updated to make sure you get the latest info on exam dates, recommended books and
course schedules.
To ensure that you receive a personal notification as soon as new information becomes available: add your email address to
our CPIM-mailing list on www.cimcil.be.

The CPIM Certification Process
CIM_CIL has been appointed by APICS to facilitate the APICS exams in Belgium. These exams are administered in paper and
pencil format using multiple choice questions.
The test center for Belgium is located in Brussels: Elewijt Center. This conference center is conveniently located and offers
also hotel accommodations.
APICS exams take place on assigned exam dates. There are usually four exam dates per year.
On each exam date you can take a morning and/or an afternoon exam.
To register for an exam, fill out the online form at the CIM_CIL website before the deadline. Candidates have to cover addi-
tional exam costs in case of cancellation or retake after failure.
Candidates who register for our Review or In depth courses are entitled to 1 APICS exam per module, to be taken no later
than 1 year after the module start date. Although the course registration fee includes an exam, you still have to register using
the exam registration form on the CIM_CIL website.
