    THERE IS (singular) THERE ARE (plural)


    -There is a cat. There are cats.

    CONTRACTIONS
    There is = there´s
    There is not =there isn´t
    There are not = there aren´t

     You cannot contract there
    are.

     CONTABLE:
    Lots of = muchos (as)
    Many = algunos
    Any = ningun/o, alguno
    Few = poco
     UNCONTABLE:
    Lots of = mucho(a)
    Some = algo de/algunos
    Any = ningún/o, alguno
    Little = poco
    Questions and short answers
    IS/ARE + THERE
    To form a question we place is / are in front of there.
    We also use there is / are in short answers.

    1. Is there a dog in the supermarket? - No, there isn't.

    2. Are there any dogs in the park? - Yes, there are.

    3. Is there a security guard in the shop? - Yes, there is.

    4. Are there any polar bears in Antarctica? - No, there aren't.

    5. Is there any ice-cream in the freezer? - Yes, there is.

    6. Are there any taxis waiting? No, there aren´t.
