Principal Corner,

November 2010

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We kicked off the 2nd quarter with our 3-5th graders taking their first HSA test of the year. The system has
changed this year, and students are taking the test on-line and have the opportunity to take it up to three
times. We just completed the first round and teachers will be taking a look at the results during the next few
weeks.

Thank you to all who came out for our Halloween Night! The children all seemed to have a wonderful time
participating in activities, going through the haunted house, and we had a record setting 60 contestants enter
our costume contest. It was just a great time for all! I would like to take this time to acknowledge the
faculty and staff who volunteered their time to make the event possible; I really appreciate their dedication
to students and their hard work.

I would also like to thank the parents and guardians who came to parent teacher conferences recently. We
look forward to these every year and having you take the time to come in and meet with your child’s teacher
means a lot to us and your child. We hope you found the experience meaningful and worthwhile as well.

We have started our after-school enrichment classes this month. We are fortunate to have grant funds and
were able to find personnel to teach these classes. We are hoping to expand our offerings in the coming
months so be on the look-out for future flyers.
Wishing you all a very happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Stacey S. Oshio
Principal

 Keep side walks, curbs and gutters clean, Leaves and lawn clippings are a source of phosphorus.

 Mulch grass clipping and leaves these on the lawn for natural fertility or use the clippings for
composting.

 Avoid excess watering and overuse of pesticides and fertilizers.

 Store oil, paint, gasoline, antifreeze and other automotive products properly. Keep these
substances tightly sealed. Dispose of batteries and tires properly.

the storm sewer.
