Design for Connection to Wall Based on AISC 360-16 & ACI 318-14

DESIGN CRITERIA
1. The wall can be tiltup panel or vertical pour/curing concrete wall.
2. The (6) headed studs and (10) bent bars are con-currently required
to weld embedded plate, so punching capacity (ACI 318-14 8.4 & 8.5)
controls concrete design.
3. The loads (T, P, & P e) may be from beam, girder, collector, or truss.

INPUT DATA & DESIGN SUMMARY

LATERAL TENSION LOAD, ASD T = 15 kips, (67 kN)
GRAVITY SERVICE LOAD P = 47 kips, (209 kN)
DISTANCE FROM WALL FACE e = 4.75 in, (121 mm)
CONCRETE STRENGTH fc' = 4 ksi, (28 MPa)
PLATE STEEL YIELD STRESS Fy = 50 ksi, (345 MPa)
MINIMUM PLATE THICKNESS t = 1 in, (25 mm)
TRIAL WELD SIZE w = 0.625 in, (16 mm)

CONCRETE WALL THICKNESS B = 8 in, (203 mm)

GUSSET DEPTH / EFFECTIVE DEPTH D = 8.5 in, (216 mm) THE DESIGN IS ADEQUATE.
BOLT SPACING / EFFECTIVE WIDTH C = 6 in, (152 mm)
