Lesson Plan in Science Grade 9
Lesson Plan in Science Grade 9
A. Lesson Objectives
At the end of the discussion, the students are able to:
1. Differentiate between scalar quantity and vector quantity.
2. Presented in a vector drawing.
3. Distinguish between distance and displacement.
B. Learning Content
1. Topic : Scalar and Vector Quantities
2. Resources : Books, chalk, chalkboard, board eraser, laptop, and power point
presentation.
3. Methodology : Student center
4. Concepts :
a. Scalar
Scalar are quantities that are specified by magnitude only.
b. Vector
Vectors are quantities that are specified by both magnitude and
direction.
c. Distance
Distance is the length of the actual path traveled.
d. Displacement
Displacement is the lenght and direction of the change in position
measured from the starting point.
5. Skill : Discussing the differences between distance and displacement

C. Learning Procedure
1. Apperception/Motivation
Theacher shows a video about scalar and vector quatities and akss students their
insight for the topic that will be discussed.
2. Lesson Proper
a. Teacher asks students the point of the video. (the informations they get from
the video)
b. Teacher explain clearly the differences between scalar quatities and vector
quantities.
c. Teacher asks students about the differences between distance and
displacement.
d. Teacher give some simple problem and the students have to answer
3. Generalization
Ask some students to summarize the lesson

a. 20 m west
b. 50 m north
c. 35 m south
3. If a car travels 50 units east and then 40 units west, then what is the distance the car
has traveled ?
4. If a car travels 50 units east and then 40 units west, then what is the displacement of
the car ?
5. Find the distance traveled and the displacement of the following vectors.
a. 40 m due north and 30 m due east
b. 6 m due south, 10 m due east, and 5 m due north
c. 20 m to the west, 5 m to the south, and 10 m to the east
