Lesson 3 - Communication Breakdown
For Offline Activity
Write a letter to your teacher about your personal learning on communication breakdown. Include in your
letter, how this lesson can be useful in your daily life particularly at home, in school, and in the community.

Dear Teacher,
Good day, Ma'am Samantha Mae Pasahol. The aim of this letter is to share my personal knowledge
about the topic of communication breakdown. We see conflict over and over as a result of communication
breakdowns, whether it’s between friends, co-workers, families and even countries Although some
communication breakdowns are intentional, much of what we say is unconscious and the bad behaviors we've
learned from others. I believe that communication breakdowns are underestimated. They happen every day,
wherever we are, and they caused frustration. And as this is happening, something is being swept aside,
forgotten, and underrated unless someone steps in to clear everything up. I've learned some tricks to fix
communication breakdowns when we're in the middle of it, including admitting our mistakes. So much in our
daily conflicts have communication breakdown as their root cause. By improving our communication skills, our
abilities to “make common”, we give ourselves a huge leg up, when it comes to working with others and
effectively managing conflict. So I’ve learned that vocabulary is one of the most important factors that will keep
learners like me from communication breakdown. The strategies you have taught me help me a lot in avoiding
this to happen again and again. Knowing how to overcome communication breakdown is very useful to me in
the house.
Nothing makes things worse like blame-shifting. If you communicated poorly, own it. If you
misunderstood someone, let them and everyone affected know. Another tip is we must focus to it and it will
help us in our daily life to become a better person in the future. Also, we should always look at the eye of the
person we are talking to and most importantly we must consider and understand that communication barriers or
breakdowns are part of communication. However, this lesson gave me guidelines and expand my knowledge on
what are the ways that we can do to avoid communication breakdown and in my personal life, I need to
communicate to deal with various concerns and problems of daily life. So, all I can say is, for me,
communication skills are the foundation of effective conflict management and collaboration, in our workplaces,
and in all aspects of daily living and communication breakdown is defined as a failure to exchange information,
resulting in a lack of communication so we must be careful anytime when are communicating on someone.
` Faithfully yours,
Ralph Christian M. Narvas
