ACTIVITY #1
2. Computer Hardware – It pertains to the computer’s physical devices. It is any part of the computer
that can be seen and touched.
3. People Ware – Is a term used to refer to one of the three core aspects of computer technology, the
other two being hardware and software. People ware can refer to anything that has to do with the role
of people in the development or use of computer software and hardware systems.
1. COMPUTER SOFTWARE
System Software:
a. MS Windows - Microsoft Windows is a graphical operating system that was created
and released by the company Microsoft. It allows you to store files, run software, play
games, watch videos, and access the Internet.
Application Software:
a.MS Word - is a graphical word processor that allows users to type. Its primary
function is to enable users to type and save documents. It has document-making tools
that are similar to those found in other word processors.
b. FileMaker - It integrates a database engine with a graphical user interface (GUI) and
security features, allowing users to modify the database by dragging new elements into
layouts, screens, or forms.
c. VLC Media Player - supports many audio and video compression methods and file
formats, including DVD-Video, video CD and streaming protocols. It is able to stream
media over computer networks and can transcode multimedia files.
Utility Software:
a. Norton Antivirus - is an anti-virus or anti-malware software product. It uses signatures
and heuristics to identify viruses. Other features included in it are e-mail spam filtering
and phishing protection.
2. COMPUTER HARDWARE
Input Device:
a. Keyboard – is the most common input device that accepts letters, number, and
commands from the user.
b. Mouse – lets one select option from on-screen menus. Used by moving it on a flat
surface, pressing its two buttons, and scrolling the wheel that is located between the
buttons.
c. Microphone – allows user to speak into the computer to input data and instructions.
Output Device:
a. Printer – produces text and graphics on a physical medium such as paper.
Storage Device:
a. Flash Disk Drive – a small portable storage device. It has a memory capacity up to 2TB.
b. Hard Disk Drive - stores all of your digital content. Your documents, pictures, music,
videos, programs, application preferences, and operating system represent digital
content stored on a hard drive. Hard drives can be external or internal.
c. Compact Disk – It is a flat, round, and portable metal disc. Can accessed using CD and
DVD drives.
Process Devices:
a. Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) - is a chip or electronic circuit capable of rendering
graphics for display on an electronic device.
b. Central Processing Unit (CPU) - is the electronic circuitry within a computer that
carries out the instructions of a computer program by performing the basic arithmetic,
logical, control and input/output (I/O) operations specified by the instructions.
c. Motherboard - It's the circuit board that links all of your hardware to your processor,
distributes power from your power supply, and determines which storage devices,
memory modules, and graphics cards (among other expansion cards) can connect to
your PC.
ACTIVITY #2
Businesses can use technology to keep data flowing, manage contacts, track processes, and
keep track of employee records. Technology allows firms to function more efficiently and effectively
with less people, which lowers the cost of doing business. Technology aids business operations by
allowing them to stay in touch with suppliers, consumers, and salespeople. Because of its capacity to
reduce operational costs, technology allows businesses to provide immediate access to supplies and
information, allowing them to offer more affordable goods and services without losing quality._____
2. How would technology affect the business economy?
For firms, technological transformation can provide benefits and possibilities. New technology,
of course, can result in new products and services, as well as entirely new markets for a company.
Furthermore, technical advancements in products and processes can boost production while lowering
costs.______________________________________________________________________________
