1. Naga Landslide
On September 20, 2018, a landslide caused by heavy rainfall and quarrying operations by Apo Land and
Quarry Corporations (ALQC) in Naga, Cebu, Philippines, killed 78 people. Five others are missing This is
the second deadly landslide to occur in the country in five days; the first occurred in Itogon, Benguet, in
September 15, triggered by Typhoon Mangkhut ("Ompong"), leaving at least 35 dead.
2. Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda (November 2013)
Typhoon Haiyan, known in the Philippines as Super Typhoon Yolanda, was one of the most
powerful tropical cyclones ever recorded. On making landfall, Haiyan devastated portions of
Southeast Asia, particularly the Philippines.

Typhoon Rammasun, known in the Philippines as Typhoon Glenda, was one of the only two
Category 5 super typhoonson record in the South China Sea, with the other one
being Pamela in 1954. Rammasun had destructive impacts across the Philippines, South China,
and Vietnam in July 2014.
The eruption of Taal Volcano in Batangas, Philippines on January 12, 2020, was a
phreatomagmatic eruption from its main crater that spewed ashes across Calabarzon, Metro
Manila, and some parts of Central Luzon and Ilocos Region, resulting in the suspension of school
classes, work schedules, and flights in the area.

The 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines' Luzon Volcanic Arc was the second-
largest volcanic eruption of the 20th century, behind only the 1912 eruption of Novarupta in
Alaska.

On January 13, 2018, at 4:21 PM (PST), a phreatic eruption occurred that propelled a grayish
steam and ash plume approximately 2500 meters high that drifted to the southwest side of the
volcano.
