    LUTUNG KASARUNG

    A long time ago, there was a king named Prabu Tapa Agung. He had two daughters, Purbararang
    and Purbasari. Prabu Tapa Agung planned to retire as a king. Then he appointed Purbasari, her
    youngest daughter to replace him as the leader of the kingdom.
    Hearing this, Purbararang was angry.

    "You cannot ask her to be the queen, Father. I'm older than she is. It's supposed to be me,
    not her!" said Purbararang. But the king still chose Purbasari to be the next queen.

    Purbararang then set a bad plan with her fiance, Indrajaya.

    “ How could my father choose Purbasari? It supposed to be me right! Let us go to a witch


    and ask her to put a spell on Purbasari . Later Purbasari will has a bad skin. Ha ha ha ha.”

    When Purbararang go back to the palace, she immediately met Purbasari.

    “ What’s wrong with my skin? Why there are a lot of black dots all over my body?”

    " Wow! What happened to you? Now you are not as beautiful as I am. You can not be the
    queen. Instead, you have to leave this palace and stay in a jungle!”

    Purbasari was very sad. Now she had to stay in the jungle.

    “ Hi Purbasari,” suddenly Purbasari heard someone called her.

    “ Who is that? Oh My God. How terrible this jungle is.”

    “ It is me, Purbasari! I am here! I am Lutung Kasarung.”


    “ You can talk with me? ” Purbasari was shocked by a mysterious black hairy monkey
    who could speak.

    Since that, everyday Purbasari spent her time played with Lutung Kasarung. One day, Lutung
    Kasarung planned to help Purbasari by made a small lake and asked her to take a bath there.
    Amazingly, her bad skin was cured. Now she got her beautiful skin back.

    After that, she asked Lutung Kasarung to accompany her to go back to the palace.
    Purbararang was angry. She knew she had to come up with another bad idea. Then she said,

    “Oh no no no, a queen must have a handsome husband. Here is my fiance, Indrajaya.
    Where is yours?" Said Purbararang.

    Purbasari was sad. Because she did not have a fiance yet. Then, do you know what is the
    next?
    Lutung Kasarung came forward."Your fiance is a monkey, ha ha ha." It made
    Purbararang was laughing so hard.

     “Lutung, what should I do?” asked Purbasari.

    “Do not worry, My Princess. No matter where you go, you know you are not alone. I
    have a good idea”.

    Suddenly, Lutung Kasarung changed into a handsome man. He was even more handsome
    than Indrajaya. Purbararang and Indrajaya were surprised. And finally, Purbasari became the
    queen. However she forgave Purbararang and her fiance and let them stay in the palace.

    “I am so sorry my sister. I have done a lot of bad things to you, but you still kind to me.”
    “It’s ok my sister.”

    From this story, we know that we may not be greedy to everyone and should be patient.
    And even though people may be jealous and do evil things to us, it does not mean we should do
    the same for them.
