Title: Charcoal Donut

Problem: One of the most popular methods of disrespecting black people was through blackface,

And the problem in this advertisement is that they featured a woman in bright pink lips and a

face painted black make-up which is a very insensitive act because it’s racist. The advertisement

is also particularly disturbing because of the representation of race to promote the product. The

black-face model is used as a metaphor for the chocolate, colored the same dark shade in the

poster. Additionally, the name of the product, the “Charcoal Donut” suggests association with

dirtiness and soot.

Proposed Solution: My proposed solution in this problem to just use the models own skin color.

Also a product on of the solution for this problem is to change the name of the product to

“chocolate donut” because for others it represent dirtiness and soot. Lastly, do not use the

concept of a black people just to promote and advertise a product on of the solution for this

problem is to change the name of the product to “chocolate donut” in that way people wouldn’t

not think of this advertisement as a racist one.

Recommendation/s (Company): I would suggest to the Dunkin Donut Company to  immediately

withdraw this ad, publicly apologize to those it’s offended and ensure this never happens again. I

also recommend them to always seek for peoples approval before releasing it to the public so that

the company can know immediately if there is a problem in their advertisement. Lastly I

recommend them to always be insensitive on what they would post to the public because not

only thousands of people would see it but millions and trillions around the world.
