Types of Film
1. Narrative Film
- A narrative film is an unrealistic film or movie that helps the audience convince that
what they’ve seen is real.

Example:
a.

The Wizard of Oz (1939)


Dorothy Gale has swept away from her
home in Kansas to the magical Land of
Oz in a tornado and embarks on a quest
with her new friends to see the Wizard
who can help her return home and help
her friends as well.

b.

It’s A Wonderful Life (1946)


An angel is sent from Heaven to help a
desperately frustrated businessman by
showing him what life would have been
like if he had never existed.

2. Documentary Film
- The documentary film is based on the true story of a person’s life. This film shows
what are the challenges in life before the object of the film became a successful
person.

Example:
a.

Manny (2014)
World Champion. Congressman.
Father. Manny Pacquiao fights any
obstacle that comes his way. As his
home country of 100 million people
watches his every move.

3. Experimental Film
- It is a film that experiments with some aspects of filmmaking. It is not just about a
weird film or a film without a story it is another way to express another point of view
especially in the audience.

Example:
a.

Flaming Creatures (1963)


The film shows performers dressed in
elaborate drag for several disconnected
scenes, including a lipstick commercial,
an orgy, and an earthquake.

4. Animation and Special Effects


- Number one we know that uses this kind of film is Walt Disney, through
animation and colorful design it encourages the audience to watch this. It
also brings life to the drawing and our imaginary world.

Luca (2021)
The film centers on Luca Paguro, a
sea monster boy with the ability to
assume human form while on land,
who explores the town of
Portorosso with his new best friend
Alberto Scorfano, experiencing a
life-changing summer.
