After defeating the Magnolia Pambansang Manok Hotshots, 94-79, in Game Five of
their best-of-seven Philippine Cup finals series on Friday at the Don Honorio
Ventura State University Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga, the TnT Tropang Giga are
back as PBA champions.
TnT won the series 4-1, reclaiming the top spot in the PBA for the first time since
2015.
The Tropang Giga, headed by rookie Mikey Williams, dominated the game from
late in the first quarter until the final seconds. He ended up with a total of 24
points.
TnT's coach Chot Reyes is a new champion in his first season back as a coach in
the PBA, with Roger Pogoy scoring 19 points.
Ian Sangalang, who has 18 markers for Magnolia, led the pace.
The Tropang Giga's most recent title was their sixth All-Filipino championship and
their eighth overall in the PBA.
